:help:FAKES? OR NOT?

When studying photos of pareos for sale on the Bay, I have noticed something that truly puzzles me:wondering. I have unfortunately not mastered the procedure of copying pictures into messages here, so I will have to describe my findings in writing:

Some care tags state LAVAGE 60 MAXIMUM below the appropriate cleaning symbols.

Some state LAVAGE 40 MAXIMUM.

Other care tags state LAVAGE 60 MINIMUM :confused1:. These pareos I initially thought MUST be fakes, but I am now having doubts as they apart from the surprising minimum-statement look authentic.

My recently purchased Flamingo pareo (from Hermes at Heathrow) merely shows the cleaning symbols, no text (apart from MADE IN SWITZERLAND PRINTED IN FRANCE COTTON 100% COTTON)

I am aware that this is not an authenticity-thread. However,- maybe we can share tips on how to judge whether a resell pareo is authentic or not? I have not been able to find any pareo photo archives to compare the pareos on the Bay with

Have any of you other pareo-gals or guys seen the text LAVAGE 60 MINIMUM on the care tag of a pareo you KNOW to be authentic?:wondering

This is pretty! If only they had this at the H sale in Paris... (They had it in black, not a color combo that I liked.)

Bought my first pareos from the recent H Summer sale in Paris!

So strange, are all of these degrees in celsius?

The tags don't state Celcius or Fahrenheit, merely the tiny circular "degree-symbol" that I unfortunately haven't figured out how til write here. However, there is no doubt that it is Celcius / Centigrade, as this is the unit used in mainland Europe and it makes sense temperaturewise.

I checked an older one that says 60 minimum.

A new one says nothing. It does say made in Italy but came from the H Boutique.
Not very helpful. Sorry.

I bought one at a boutique this year and it say 60 minimum

Thank you, Andee and Giuliana, this was very enlightening and helpful! :balloon:
Now we know that authentic pareos can indeed have the illogical instruction of a minimum washing temperature (must be a typo!) and that they may be made in Italy!

I hadn't noticed that it says "60 minimum" until I checked after I saw your post. Before, I was just glad to see that you can wash it at a hot temperature, but didn't pay attention to the word "minimum". It does seem very odd and illogical.

I can't think of any H item I've worn so soon after buying and with such joy .
My Flamingo Party Pareo has enabled me to get to wear a design I couldn't love on myself in silk .
And also to wear peacock blue , a colour I adore and which is made possible for me wear wear by the addition of navy, coral, magenta and orange.

My favourite bits are the lovely lily pad leaves .

I'm still p'd off by the label , it means it can only be worn on one bias which is a shame.

Twins! Gorgeous with your coloring and the perfect warm weather piece!
Like you, none of the other FP formats worked for me, but this cw in cotton is so wearable,
a great purchase from a wearability sense - I know you will reach for it often and you look so fantastic with it!
