TexasST Love your Tsubas pendant, this design has grown on me enormously , it's complex and delicate . Beautiful with that lovely scarf.

etoile Thanks, shall have to 'scrub up' for some photos!

I initially wanted only a horizontal horn pattern and I even called H.com begging to accommodate this special request, but the answer was many flavors of no. So, I took a risk and of course, a vertical stripe Isthme came in the mail today.

I vote that your Isthme is as good as they get . I must say the pattern of those striations has never bothered me either way, but now you've drawn my attention to them I'm certain they always follow the long axis of the pendant : this may be an aesthetic decision by H and it could also be that it's economic to cut the horn this way .

About the all-horn version... I also need a vote.

At first, I was extremely disappointed and didn't even want to try it on but after an hour, it has started growing on me. Would you keep this particular pendant or should I return it? Is it a "nice" Isthme as Isthmes go?

Dear Bond7Girl, So sorry to hear customer service wasn't able to accommodate, and that you were disappointed upon arrival! Unfortunately I haven't seen many Isthme pendants, so don't really know how the horn pattern typically varies on these. With the horn jewelry, I realized early on that I prefer to be able to choose from several pieces. Perhaps you could order one or two more, and return the ones you like least? If you have options, the answer may be more clear. I think the horn jewelry is more challenging to order online, as each has a personality. I hope this helps, and let us know what you decide!

Thank you all for taking your time and looking into my Isthme dilemma! I have now tried it on in different times of day and decided to keep it: plenty of lighter horn to go with my hair and enough character in these vertical stripes but not without softness.

Not sure if it's important, but this piece doesn't have the Made In Vietnam engraving on the other side.

I was also looking for an all-horn version last fall. Unfortunately no local boutiques carried the Isthme. So I compromised & got the Lift pendants. I comforted myself by saying I've got 2 sides to wear: the lacquer side & the horn side. Ï would say your Isthme has a lovely pattern. The horn side of one of my Lifts is devoid of pattern & uniform in color!

Thank you :) Plain horn can also be beautiful with certain fabrics and colors. Enjoy your Lifts! I adore seeing them in this thread and hope one day to find one to call my own :)

Hi Bond7Girl, I personally think it's lovely. Hope u will keep it! :smile1:

Thank you so much! It's staying with me :)

I think the pattern looks great but you must honestly think you will love it and wear it enough. Don't try to talk yourself into it at this price, you will only wind up putting it away for later and never wearing it. I figured this out with what i thought was a grail necklace for me... and was so nonplussed when I got it I was so sad. I thought I would regret a return, but once it left me all I felt was relief... so the search goes on!:graucho:

I have gone through this with a number of scarves... but then the funds were happily used in "better" ways. I think my first feeling of disappointment had a lot to do with being frustrated with H.com who were most unhelpful. Hope you can find a necklace that feels right for you!

Thank you for a thoughtful response! You are right, I have now dug into the TPF archives and the horizontal striations are on the dipped Isthmes. The all-horn pieces lean vertical. This has to have been a conscious decision.

This is excellent advice and next time, I will order two or three pieces to choose from! Any other time, I'd have placed another order but, I apologize for the oversharing, I am literally one foot in Labor and Delivery as my baby is coming any day within the next two weeks. I don't feel daring enough for a new order/return right now :smile1:

Isthme and a few low-maintenance scarves is my hopeful attempt to add some quick and easy style in the next year or so :smile1:

Dear Bond7Girl, So very glad to hear it all worked out for the best, and congratulations on your upcoming arrival, how very exciting! :smile1:

Thank you so much, textilegirl and etoile de mer :) The little guy is getting impatient, so hope we'll meet him soon.

And I love having an Isthme. I'm already amazed at how a simple piece of horn can pull many outfits together! Here's a quick mod shot:

The Isthme looks great on u! Wonderful choice! And congratulations on the imminent arrival of the new family member!

You look wonderful in your new pendant Bondgirl! Congrats on both your pendant and imminent arrrival of your little one! Sorry I missed all the inquiries about the striations, I have the Isthme dipped in white and it does have horizontal striping, but my other gold dipped Dalvy is vertical. They are all unique and yours is very pretty! Enjoy!

Hi Bond7Girl, glad that you kept the pendant. It looks wonderful on u! May u have a smooth delivery of your baby boy! :smile1:

It took forever for me to accept the aesthetic of myself wearing a horn pendant: much as I liked the look on others I felt like a dibby delegate wearing a nametag!

I'm often like this, which is why I understood the dilemna of Bond7girl . Sometimes the aesthetic is so off for me I never go there [ never went for a mullet or shoulder pads in the 80s ! ]

This time I made it in the end , and here is my much worn Dalvy pendant .

Forgive the weird pictures , the light was dim and the mirror is old.....[my excuse]

frou frou, thank you so much for posting. I love seeing your Dalvy on you, and you wear it beautifully! And I think you were quite right to skip a mullet, and enormous shoulder pads in the 80s...yikes! ;) I wasn't sold on those, either!

It looks beautiful on you, Frou Frou—just perfect. And with the flowing mousseline, the whole effect is dashing.

Statement jewelry can have such an effect that it's necessary to make sure the piece can also be "thrown" on, otherwise it could never be chic. I went back 3 times to Madison H to try on my earrings. 3 times! Some things at H work for me; others don't (the CDC made MP roll his eyes when I tried it on). This definitely works on you.

froufrou - I already complimented on the lovely Eperon mousse - you look fabulous with the Dalvy! Mine is a darker horn, and is considered a dressier pendant for me. It is mysterious, and maybe the gold also makes it more elegant. I need to play with it more so it gets more necktime! Enjoy!
