Good point @textilegirl, I'd sorta forgotten that each batch of leather can have slightly different properties. I am delighted to have the bag in hand as you said!

Thank you @Pampelmuse @phoenixfeather - super helpful to know yours both looked like this from the start too  I will be sure to store it flat to allow the leather to rest. @phoenixfeather do you think WhiteFox's linen insert (which I'm planning to buy from the other thread) would be enough structure to help reduce the slouch or are her inserts too soft? Would I need a more seriously structured insert to help with the slouch?
I have inserts from White Fox, Senamon, Meenda and 7RP. All of them help with it.

Oh sweet - thank you for this info! Do you have so many inserts because you have multiple Evies? Do you have a preference between the various brands? I know people love 7rp but they seem like the reduce usable volume significantly. Senamon is the other one I am seriously considering - if I'm only buying 1, would you go with hers or stick to WhiteFox?

I will point out that an insert can itself push out the sides for the Clemence Evelyne, that is, be visible on the exterior because of the soft leather. You won't necessarily achieve a perfectly flat front and back with an insert. I don't like an insert for the Evie personally. It adds weight and takes up volume, and I'm not a messy bag carrier so I'm not concerned about spills or such. I'd rather the sides be relaxed than pushed out.

Good call! I too hate when the insert makes dents or otherwise changes the shape of the bag. The weight issue isn't something I've thought of but that's a really good point. I've specifically customized WhiteFox inserts to be slightly smaller than my bags just for this reason and I use them really just as liners in case of spills or the like.

I have a white fox insert and I can see the outline of the top of it from the outside of my evie. I don’t keep the insert in it when I store the bag. I take it out and stuff the bag with air pillows.

I debated not using it but I like the little pockets and zipper pocket I had customized. White fox was closed a while ago because of the war but they might be open now?

Good to know, I've customized my inserts in the past to be lower height so they're not visible while wearing the bag, but but I'd always assumed the default size would be fine in terms of not being seen... thanks for the tip.

Do you like your zip pocket? I always toyed with adding one but never have.

I've been in touch with Julia (WhiteFox) this week and she's all set up on a new platform. In the last few days I posted a few bits of correspondence with her regarding her current link, shipping timeline etc. in case you want to check them out. At least handy for future reference if you're wanting to continue shopping with her :)

Yes, I have three Evelynes. I ordered all of the inserts to try them and because I didn't want to spend money on a 7RP inserts. It's true that all the other inserts (other than 7RP) can show on the outside of the bag. It doesn't bother me personally but I really prefer the 7RP insert now that I have it. I like that it is really smooth and has nice pockets. And it doesn't leave dents on your bag. I justify the expensive purchase by telling myself that I can use this one insert in all of my Evelynes.

I’m a longtime K & B owner, but a relative newcomer the Hermes Evelyne. I’ve absolutely fallen in love with it as an every day bag, though. The Clemence - which I have in Curry in the PM size - is a bit softer & more molded against the body, but my favorite is this vintage Bareina E, also PM; the leather just has the most beautiful hand & patina & tone. 3568A082-6803-4380-9FAD-6FD386BB1A78.jpeg

Now that you mention the height of the insert….I remember that I did ask Julia to extend the insert an extra 1.5” I think. To make it taller and therefore cover more of the interior space. I thought it would be more protective.

I do find the zipper pocket useful. I have it the entire length of one long side. I keep my wallet in there, zipped up.

The other tip I have is I asked Julia to make the exterior panels 2 different colors. Black on the zipper side and light pink on the other side of the insert. So I can change the color that shows through the perforations if I feel like it.

I have the same vintage barenia Evelyne too! I like it much better than my noir clemence. It weighs literally nothing compared to the clemence. And the length of the strap is just perfect for me. I don’t like the adjustable strap on the clemence PM.

I sent it to spa and just got it back last month. Been using it nonstop since I got it back. She looks wonderful!

I did this too with my tpm insert - orange on one side and taupe on the other. Honestly, I like the orange facing the H cut out and it's been a year I haven't flipped it to the taupe side yet.

Oh Annawakes, your bareina Evie is GORGEOUS! And your pictures do it justice in a way that my photo did not. You’re making me want to send mine to the spa as well - except that like you, I use it nonstop, so am not sure I’ll be able to part with it!

@phoenixfeather Thanks for explaining! I would hate for an insert to show outside the bag (either by way of height or by pushing/denting the leather) - good to know the 7RP doesn't do that. Do you find it takes up too much interior volume? There are not many images or videos online of the insert inside an Evelyne but what I've seen make it look like a real space hog!

Oh my freaking goodness @Virevolte that's exquisitely beautiful! Do you (and @Annawakes) mind sharing the date stamps of yours so I know what approximate year(s) these were made? I've wanted a Barenia Evie for a long time but rarely find them, and when I do, they look either in poor condition or so nice that I'm skeptical if they're legit.

@Annawakes Gotcha, glad to know you extended the height. I wanted to do that on my TPM for protection but opted not to for visibility. It's black though so I could get away with it, this one is etoupe so I'd be more worried about staining the interior so I might do what you did and make it taller. I also love your idea of wallet in the zip pocket, mine is nice and flat so it'd work well zipped into a pocket too. Thank you for the photos - really helpful. I would've assumed you had to give up the slip pockets in favor of a zip pocket but it looks like you have a zip pocket and then slip pockets attached to that zip pocket. Do you find this makes the bag too thick/bulky?

Also love the idea (which @Book Worm had too) of the exterior being two different colors on each side. On my other inserts I did interior/exterior different colors (mainly so that the inside of the bag is light colored and never a black hole!) but never thought of the idea of two exterior colors to make for variety seen through the perforations :) And any chance you'd share where you bought your vintage barenia?? It's gorgeous!
