Ode to the Evelyne

I've been carrying my Evie for a couple of days now and I'm realizing that what I love most about this bag is how under the radar it is.

I'm finally living my dream of working in the theatre (after years in a more lucrative career that made me miserable) and have always felt funny carrying my LV and Gucci into rehearsals or production meetings. They seem ostentatious and out of place there. When I carry them into the room, they come with perceptions and judgments and expectations that I feel I need to navigate around and past in order to get to the work of making theatre. And I certainly can't take them with me to donor meetings.

I don't think I'll have the same issue with my Evie. It's so under the radar, nothing about it feels showy. It's just perfectly my style and the functional bag I choose to carry. And I love that.

(Please note, I'm not judging those other labels or another bag more obviously Hermes. I still love my Gucci and LV. I'm just commenting on my circumstances and how this is a new experience for me with a designer bag. :smile:)

@MoyJoy yours is perfect too!

I'm not sure about how I feel about the white stitching with gold. I think I need to see it IRL before knowing if it will bother me. In pictures, I think the contrast stitching works better on étoupe. But I'm not sure how I feel about étoupe--sometimes it looks taupe, sometimes tan, sometimes grey, sometimes muddy. Again, I think I need to see it IRL to figure out if I like the color.

Decisions...decisions. LOL!!!

I love white stitching on gold Clemence. It gives the bag a casual sporty look, and to me the Evelyne is a very casual bag.

Oh, white stitching is just a personal pet peeve of mine! Actually I’d love it with the gold if I were wearing a winter white ensemble. I think that would look more elevated than casual. Sigh. Now I wish I lived in a world where I could buy a bunch of winter whites to wear with gold Hermès bags with white stitching. :amuse:

You nailed why I love my Evie - I prefer to avoid the judgements that come with "showier" styles/brands and the Evie is perfectly under the radar for me!

It's also so not fussy! I'm always terrified I'm going to stain the LV vachetta or Gucci monogram canvas. I take good care of my bags, but I'm done with bags I have to baby. That simply no longer fits into my lifestyle.

Update for those who remembered the issue I had on my new Evie’s strap clips (it detached itself from the bag a few times):
I brought back the bag to Hermes NBS in London (despite having bought online) and the SM agreed that it was not acceptable to have such an issue with a brand new bag. She offered to have it expedited to Paris for the issue to be checked and hopefully resolved. The bag was dropped just before Christmas.
I can happily say that I was notified last week that my bag was ready for collection and that they had replaced both clips (free of charge of course). I must say that I was very pleased with the customer service and happy to have my Evie back!
Thank you for everyone’s advice!
