Ode to the Evelyne

The new (to me) etoupe Evelyne GM.

I resisted Evelyne for awhile but kept reading how convenient it is. Finally got this pre-owned one to test it out. Next thing I know, I was ordering the Bleu Nuit!

@Hippolyta I am the carry-everything heavy-bag type of gal too. I was able to fit: iPad Pro 10” and my phone in the front small pocket. In the large back main compartment, I was able to fit my MacBook Pro 13”, bag insert with my Secrid wallet, coin purse, LV mini pochette fully stuffed, 2 pairs of glasses in minimal glasses pouches, AirPod case, and small water bottle! On my trip to Canada this week, I also was able to stuff my scarf and hat in there, without the MacBook Pro. I am also 5’7”. As for color, I find the only thing etoupe doesn’t go very well with is gray. I tried Gold in a store and really wanted to like it. But I sadly declined it because it is just too much “orange”! I do think it will look good in a Halzan. I eventually got Bleu Nuit, which will go both with warm tone and cool tone. Hope this helps!

Well, I did it! I just ordered my first Hermes--a black Evelyne GM III. I went the preloved route and it should be here next week. Can't wait!

Does anyone find an Evie with a darker strap shows more obvious signs of wear/pilling? Someone once told me that was the case but wondering others experiences.

Darker as in BN or black, etc

I think that lighter colored "fuzzies" are more noticeable on the darker canvas straps, but don't think they wear or pill more than other colors.

Thanks @Wozimom! I can't imagine ever needing to fit more than that in my Evelyne, even when traveling. How long between your etoupe and blue nuit (both gorgeous) purchases? Is it nuts that I'm already sitting here thinking I will need a light neutral one too, when my first on hasn't even arrived yet?

The functionality of this bag is like an upgraded, more adult and chic version of the bag I carried all through college. It's a bag I got from the Army/Navy surplus store and wore until it fell apart. I've had Guccis and LVs that I haven't loved as much as that Army/Navy bag because of its functionality and carefree spirit.

Can you all tell I'm really excited for my Evie?

Not crazy at all! (Speaking from another crazy ) Like I said, I was skeptical about Evelyne so I bought an used one first. I really love the fact that it fits both MacBook AND iPad!

Interesting you shared your love for your army/navy bag. I previously always travel with this Longchamp canvas bag that has thick strap that can go from crossbody to shoulder bag, regardless how many nice purses I’ve got. This past holiday was the first time I replaced it with my Evelyne on my trip!

I waited for about a month to get my Bleu Nuit. Or rather, I knew I wanted a dark neutral one so it was more waiting for it to become available. Looks like we went the opposite direction in terms of purchase sequence!

I’m not a colorfully dressed person, so I think I’ll probably stop at two neutrals when it comes to Evelyne. Or at least that’s the plan for now.

New kid in town: Evie 29 in Anemone Maurice Leather. After searching high and low for this colour found it on the French website just before Christmas. 29 seems to be considerably lighter than 33.
