After spending two weeks looking at all your gorgeous evies on this thread, I am obsessed and plan to purchase one in the new year and see at least two in my future. I have a few questions I'm hoping you all can help me with:

1. I can't easily get to an Hermes boutique, so I'm trying to get a sense of size. Can anyone tell what size is in this video review by MakeupbyTiffany:

Essentially, I'm 99% sure I want a GM for everyday, but am not sure if I should consider the TGM for work travel purposes instead. For work travel I'd need room for a file folder, notebook, sometimes an ipad, long wallet, eyeglass case, makeup bag, water bottle. Would that fit in a GM?

2. I'm torn between the colors black, gold, and etoupe. I feel like gold is 4 seasons (I live in the northeast USA where we have true 4 seasons), but black and etoupe are more 3 seasons. what have you all found? Do you feel the black looks really heavy in the summer? Does etoupe look too light in winter?

3. How does availability work with Hermes--I'm brand new to the brand. I haven't seen gold or etoupe available online in the GM size in the last few weeks. And stock generally seems to be pretty hit or miss. Does the GMIII come in those colors? Do I need to go the pre-loved route for gold or etoupe (if I decide on one of those)?

Thanks so much for your help! I'm so excited to have an Hermes join my little collection.

Gold and etoupe are been available in the GM size in Europe now - if you start checking daily you may find what you are looking for on the US site which generally speaking seems to have more stock. One of the dark blues may work as a year round neutral. I'm not familiar with the US file folder size but a GM would fit an A4 with a bit if room to spare. If you don't mind a bit of bulging maybe your items would fit, depending in the size of the water bottle. I'm leaning toward using the TPM Evelyne for my wallet and keys with a separate tote for other things. As I walk to and from work I use a backpack for my laptop and snacks.

I have both a gold and a black Evie in 29 and I wear them year round. I live iFlorida where it is always summer.

1. I think this is the GM size in the video based on her description and what it looks like, but it's a bit hard to tell from the proportion since her video is fairly up close and I don't know how tall she is. I only have the PM size, but can fit all that you mentioned. However, I generally don't like to fill my big as it becomes heavy and I really like how the Evelyne drapes comfortably against the body, which it won't if it's full.

2. I love all three of these colors and unfortunately (or fortunately?) have come to love this style so much that I have bought it in multiple colors. I think it depends more on your wardrobe than the season as all of them are beautiful neutrals. I think black is always classic and versatile in any season, but I feel Hermes does color so beautifully that I went with non-black, even though I wear black a lot and the majority of my bags are black. I have an Etoupe Birkin, and I think it's a great all year-round color, but I think Etoupe can certainly look different depending on the leather. I honestly love gold and find it a happy, casual year-round color, but I also live in sunny Southern California.

3. I'm sorry that I don't have much advice on this. I have one Hermes boutique close to me, but I admit still being intimidated going there despite having a nice SA who I've worked with before. When I went to see/try the Evelyne in store, it was very easy and they had multiple colors in stock for PM/GM (definitely black, etoupe, and a few of the dark blues -- bleu nuit, bleu encre). Recently there's been a lot on the website and the nice thing about buying online is that there is a refund option if it doesn't work out (if bought in the boutique, it's only for store credit). I think the colors online change/sell out, but I think gold or etoupe would pop up with some patience, as they are some of Hermes' most classic and popular colors :)

Thank you all!

I'm think going to go with a GM--thanks for offering to post a pic of the TGM, @golconda . I'm 5'7 and am used to carrying big, heavy-ish bags (LV Artsy, Gucci large Bella and large Horsebit Hobo, for example), so I think the weight will be fine. More importantly, it sounds like it will give me the flexibility to add those few extra needed items to my daily essentials when traveling.

@scout087 , I've absolutely been loving the colors of some of the bags I've seen you all sharing and modeling. But, as much as I love them, unfortunately they're not for me. It's one of those things (like chunky, statement necklaces) that I always love on everyone else, but hate on me. I'm a little jealous of all of you who make those colors work! LOL!

Now, to pick a color! It's down to black or gold. @scout087 , thank you for sharing that info about returns in store vs online! I will plan to order online when I'm ready. Perhaps my decision regarding color will be decided by availability.

Thank you all again! I can't wait to share my new bag in a couple of months and to join the club!

Can anyone recommend a leather conditioner to keep the clemence leather shiny? I have a black GM and I feel the color is becoming “dull”. I asked an Hermes SA and he said not to do anything and that my bag looks new but I’ve had the bag for more than 5 years now.
Just curious if anyone here uses any product on their bag?

I’ve seen a TPM pop up maybe once a week or so? I have no handle on what times they appear. You can definitely order from the French site for delivery in the U.K., all orders to here come from Paris anyway. The stock is often different between the two- I’ve just had a new season scarf delivered from the French site, they are not available in the U.K. until Jan 1st and they usually come with with a price rise at that time.
Thank you so much. I’ve just ordered a new season bandana on the French site to come to the UK and it has gone through with no problems. They seem to have a lot of bandanas in many different colours, I so struggle on the UK site and I use these scarves all year long to keep my neck warm. Thank you again.

.

I would definitely go with a GM. The TGM is like... obscenely huge IMO. And I can't imagine wearing something that big cross-body.

I stumbled across this picture of Kate Walsh with her TGM. It's the best one I've found that really gives a sense of the size. She's around 5'10" and the TGM is ginormous on her! I don't know how she wears it that low and is able to walk.

Looks as if she is coming out of an airport. Only time I have used my TGM is for travel. Holds ton and cross body leaves hands free, but it is not the bag I use at the travel destination. I do wear mine higher than she has hers.
