My Evie collection from top to bottom: bleu nuit ghw PM, capucine phw PM, noir ghw PM, jaun de Naples phw TPM. The capucine PM is Maurice and the other 3 are Clemence. I switched out all the adjustable straps on the PM for 50MM 85. I’m 5’3”, the 85 hits me just right on the ribcage with the bottom of the bag resting on my hip for crossbody and they are lighter than the original adjustable straps. View attachment 4569649
That yellow!!! I've asked my store for that exact same bag a million times and they can never find one :( It looks so lovely <3

Can you share the things you love about it?
I am starting to read about the Evelyn 29 :girlsigh:

I was reading the strap is heavy because of the adjustment hardware. Is this true - noticeably heavy?

Is depth 3.1 inches the bags measurement with or without the small compartment?

Any idea the difference in the Evelyn 29 and Bolide 31 total weight wise?

And thank you again for always being so kind
Hi! I love the bag for many reasons:
1) Under the radar - Though it’s one of the more recognizable bags for H, you can easily wear the H side against your body and switch straps to make it fly totally under the radar.
2) Slim profile - The shape and quality of leather allow the bag to truly mold to my side. This is very important as I rely on public transportation and often must squeeze into the tiniest corner of a packed train.
3) Accessibility- I sometimes question the security of using open top bag, but I’ve made my peace by keeping the bag as close to my body as possible or using a scarf to serve as some top cover. But it’s the open top and exterior pocket that make this such as easy bag to use. There’s no fuss in reaching for your wallet, phone or train pass!
Design/Color Choices/Availability- This is such a fun grab and go back. Switch out the straps and you can wear it as a short or medium length shoulder bag instead of crossbody. The color choices are plenty and it’s a relatively easy bag to find online or at the boutique.
5) Classic - IMHO, the Evelyne is timeless. It’s not trendy, it’s simply a bag with simple lines.

As for your other concerns:
- When not expanded the depth (w/ exterior pocket) is approximately 3.1”.
- For me, the wide strap is uncomfortable. Because I’m short, I have to adjust the strap at it’s shortest and that adds bulk to the already bulky strap. That’s why I look for alternative straps.
- The Evelyne is probably one of H’s lightest bags (when not packed to the gills). The Bolide and Lindy are on my shortlist of next bags at year’s end. The times I’ve tried the Bolide (empty and filled), the Evelyne is still feels lighter by comparison. I think the Bolide with its handles and hardware (feet and zipper) makes it a weightier bag.

Hope that helps! I’d love to enable you to join the club!

Thank you so much
You have been such a big help.

What you wrote and what I have been learning I am loving this bag.

I use my 25mm sangle cavale strap (105cm) strap as crossbody, as well as, a shoulder strap on my Bolide 31.

Both ways are very comfortable. I am 5 feet tall and small framed.

If I used my sangle cavalier strap on the Evelyn, will these two lengths feel comfortable with the Evelyn III 29?

How wide is the Evelyn strap? I understand you saying it gets bulky doubling up making strap shorter.
When you pull it to the shortest length for shoulder carry how long is the strap?

Thank you again :hugs:
If you have any questions on the bolide just let me know.

I’m about 5’1” on a good day! The 105cm will be a little too long for someone of our stature. I have the 25 sangle at the 85 length and that hits me at the right spot by my hip. I think for this bag, it would’ve been smarter to get the 50 at the 85 length. There is a 40 width leather option at 85 that I think would be my perfect strap. The strap that comes with the bag is very much like a 50 width. When adjusted at its shortest, on me the drop is similar to the 85 length.

I may ask you a few questions about the bolide when I come to that decision - but via the bolide thread  !

I got my measuring tape size 87 cm/ 34 inch on my shoulder, it fell at the perfect spot on my hip like you mentioned.
But 87 cm/34 inch as a crossbody, I don’t think would feel comfortable. What size crossbody length do you prefer?

The Evelyn strap all the way extended is it 105cm/ 41inches?

Thanks again :flowers:

The bag has a north/south (vs east/west) feel to it so the 85 hits me where I prefer the top of the bag to hit (see photos posted previously on the H straps thread).

As for the original adjustable Evelyne strap- extended at its longest it appears to be around 48” (without the clasps) making it roughly a drop of 23-24”; at its shortest it appears to be around 23-24” (without the clasps) making it roughly a drop of 12-13”. The width of the strap is 2”. HTH!

Wow now I get it :happydance:

I just used my cloth measuring tape again. Placing the tape like your pictures.

The Evelyn is a U shaped at the top where my bolide is an upside down U shape plus it has its non-movable two handles sticking up high above its zipper, so that’s why I prefer the crossbody strap around my neck needing a longer strap to feel comfortable. And also that’s why the crossbody is very comfortable using the long crossbody as a shoulder strap.

Evelyns adjustable strap covers all lengths .... fantastic equals the more I love this bag

Thank you so much :hbeat:

Have you ladies at the purse forum ever traveled with your Evelyne bag? I’m planning to take my Evelyne with me for a trip to Hawaii. But I’m not sure is it safe to use at the airport and on the plane? Thanks!

I've travelled with my Evie Sellier quite a bit - most recently a couple weeks in Italy touring Rome, Naples, Capri and the Amalfi coast, so a mix of airports, public transport, busy cities, boats and others and I was totally fine.

I'm used to living in a big city so am always aware of my belongings and keep a hand over my bag, so things would neither fall out nor be easily pick-pocketed.

For Hawaii my only concern would be sand and sea water if you're planning to go beachside with it.
