Ode to Silver

I suspect that H silver does not tarnish easily b/c it may have a higher than 925/1000 content of silver. 925 is defined as sterling silver. High-end Mexican jewelry designers used silver with a higher content of pure silver, i.e., 970. The item then would be marked 970 rather than 925.

Silver is made of an alloy. An on-line dictionary defines alloy as "a metal made by combining two or more metallic elements, especially to give greater strength or resistance to corrosion."

It's copper that strengthens silver -- otherwise it would be rather soft and tend to wear down. You wouldn't want a ring shank to wear away over time so that it breaks and you lose the ring. However, copper is basically an impurity (something not pure silver) which reacts to air pollution (dirty air) resulting in tarnish. That's why jewelers recommend storing silver in closed plastic baggies. IMO, sticking a small anti-tarnish strip in the bag also helps.

Nevertheless, IMO silver stored in a baggie with anti-tarnish strip benefits from a quick buffing with a silver cleaning cloth before wearing. The buffing brightens the silver IMO.

How do you guys like the smaller CDC that's been appearing on H.com. They shrunk it!!!!! I liked the chunky look of a full size CDC and am wondering if the smaller CDC could ever be useful for me. Thoughts? Opinions?

According to some owners/wearers the silver CDC was slightly uncomfortable. The thinner band is just following the trends of fashion, I believe it's been out a while. If you want the original CDC shape and size, it's likely you'll never be quite happy with the narrower band, but the new width will be more comfortable.

Hi eagle!
I have this thin sterling silver CDC. I bought it in Paris (FSH) in 2015. I love it! It is very comfy and stackable with other bracelets. It fits like the clic H bracelets...Oval, not round like the printed enamels. The thing that is the hardest to get used to is taking it off. It was rather tricky because you really have to squeeze the bracelet sides together to release the hinged top part of the "oval." Once you get the hang of it, it is easy to do. First time I wore it, I was going through security and it "beeped." It took me forever to take it off so that I could walk through the screening machine. So.....if you travel with it, make sure you do several practice runs before trying to catch your next plane.

Yes I also had huge problems taking it off. I tried it in the store and neither the SA nor I could take it off for a good 15 minutes. As a result I never bought it because I thought it would be too frustrating. It's a beautiful piece though!

I got this cute little Galop ring last week. It’s a little heavier than I would like but it’s such a cute piece! With SiP I sometimes just wear it while working on my computer. Makes me feel fancy typing away. :D

The style is very lovely. I know that the galop ring also comes in a smaller size but in rose gold and with diamond. Do you know if the galop ring in silver comes in a smaller size?
