I agree, Ms. Flava. It is difficult to slow down once I see a few styles I want. I need to remind myself to spend my time selling the bags I don't use and just enjoy the ones I do, rather than being a glutton.

I know it's tempting to just hunt for what you want and buy buy buy. Don't do that. Enjoy your new Birkin and/or Kelly and breathe.... Hermes is like a fine wine... not a frappuccino. KWIM?

p.s. I have a hard time keeping my foot on the brakes so trust me I understand your passion!

Dear friend, please tell me what you have used to maintain and clean your sombrero leather K? I have heard use just a finger to wipe out smudges, then another said use a buffing cloth in a circular motion. I have Apple leather guard, which is a fabulous product I have used on my Chanels with no trace or residue, but I am a little more hesitant to try it on such a “naked” leather and pricier bag. I know I am going to feel the need to use something to remove scratches. Perhaps even a damp cloth?
Thank you so much, beautiful!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I do appreciate it.
One thing I will advise on.... slooooooow down. Don't get every bag today. Take your time to learn about the leathers and what size works for you etc... then learn about the colors etc.... and enjoy. I know you have stated that you are trying these bags and have a return opportunity so that is a good thing but these bags are obviously very expensive and just take your time to cultivate your collection. I know it's tempting to just hunt for what you want and buy buy buy. Don't do that. Enjoy your new Birkin and/or Kelly and breathe.... Hermes is like a fine wine... not a frappuccino. KWIM?

Such sage, practical advice. Perfectly expressed. Your entire comment NEEDS to be a reminder to everyone that Hermès, as well as other luxury brands are arts to be cultivated.

Nothing. Zero. nada. She needs nothing! I will leave any spa needed to the experts at Hermes at that time... which is no time soon.

Your Kelly is beautiful [emoji7] Sombrero seems less scratch prone than a Box. May I ask if it feels as sturdy? Do you expect it to hold the wonderfully sharp, Sellier shape over time as well as Box would?

Sturdy FOR SURE! The structure will never change IMHO... She is more stiff than epsom sellier.... and SHARP is the perfect word to describe her. Not a bump, sag or change in shape whatsoever... not even a solid crease where the flap opens. And because she is so stiff, that area is where I would expect to see a crease. Nope.

Let's see, I have had the Sombrero for a year and a half.... she looks EXACTLY the same as when I bought her and I do wear her. Soooo she has been a great buy for me.

The issue of scratching is completely different in sombrero than box. This is due to Sombrero having a matte finish and (I'd guess) will NEVER patina. It just doesn't have that same look as box with the sheen and the patina effect. and the tiny scratches she does have don't rub out. In fact, rubbing them made them look worse so I stopped immediately.

Thankyou you so much for your reply. Sombrero sounds like a great option for a Sellier. Always more to think about in Hermès research...which is half the fun [emoji6]
