Proof that Chèvre will withstand practically any ill treatment. This is a Bastia I gave to my dad, which he carried around in his trousers and jeans... and it ended up in the washing machine, the dryer and then was improperly stored for ages.

It’s a bit worse for wear, colour wise, but the leather is still soft... and still has that faint H smell!

Can I ask if Chevre is scratch resistant (or at least the scratches won't show much)? And how does it compare to Togo leather when it comes to being slouchy and losing shape? I am being offered a SO and have seen in the SO thread many members ordered a B or K in Chevre. I am wondering if I should do that ...... Any idea why a Chevre is so desirable? Sorry, new to this leather type

Main difference is the sheen and soft hand. Swing by your local H to view some Togo items side by side with chèvre ones.

Thank you! The only chevre item i have is the calvi. My Birkin and Kelly bags are either Togo or espom. I wonder what other bags can be made of chevre so I can take a look? Maybe during the SO appointment next week, I'll ask my SA and if not, I'll just maybe feel the leather patches and hopefully that will give me some idea ......

Yes but it is nominal. best to check the pricing thread for the latest.

Thanks for your answer, but I checked that before but everybody only mention „Chevre“ so it‘s complicated….

Do your now which cheve leather is the cheapest/expensive?

The reason why I asked - I bought a B30 (at Hermès) in coromandel last week and when I insert the price in the threat I was the most expensive - so I asked my why?

It’s not the most expensive. You can see a few entries above yours that a B30 in box leather was slightly more expensive and there are no other comparable entries (same bag size, same currency, chevre) to draw a conclusion from. My understanding of the Chevre leathers from SLGs is that Chamkila is more expensive than Mysore, but I’m not sure where coromandel fits in as it was just recently re-release, I believe. Anyway, H has its own secrets for pricing differences for leathers based on the supply costs to obtain the skins and then whatever processing is necessary to perfect the skin, and the price difference is usually “in the noise” compared to the basic expense (ie +/- a couple hundred dollars out of 10,000).

Thanks for you answer!
I had never dealt with goatskin before. Therefore, I was curious.

Chèvre overall is quite a bit more expensive than, say, Epsom - by 5% or more on some bags - so while it's probably not a deciding factor it's not meaningless (IMO). Chamkila is more expensive than Mysore. CdC is a pretty new rerelease so not a ton of data on that.
Barenia and Box are more expensive than Chèvre (and personally I find this difference noticeable when I buy a bag, a few thousand dollars is a few thousand dollars!).

You will find that H leathers vary by rarity, size of hide and bag (because some hides need to be perfect which can be hard to find), and by supply chain (H now owns most of their tanneries but by no means all). This also affects available bags and is why, for instance, you cannot order larger bags in Mysore.

Does anyone know how well chèvre chandra wears over time? I recently picked up my first K25, but am concerned that the corners will puddle over time.
Hi! Just seen your post. I love the finer grain of your Chèvre Chandra. Is this an SO or were you offered by your store? I think generally chèvre wears really well. I have a Calvi in chèvre Mysore and the only change has been that it has slightly darkened and developed a patina/extra shine.

Hi, thank you! I was offered this in Paris when I asked for a black K25. She also showed me one in Epsom and a Retourne Barenia Faubourg in Ebene, but the Chevre Chandra really stood out to me. So far so good in terms of wear and tear!
