Do you recall how if the back of the bag got in contact with water? I carried my box Constance yesterday and was caught in a drizzle. I am keeping an eye on the bag situation now
No idea, I wore it crossbody yesterday so the back side should’ve been ok :panic: I always keep an eye on it too when I wear but I only checked the front…

Looks better now after using VCA’s cloth and placed it beside dehumidifier haha :oh:

How’s your Constance after the drizzle?

you should treat it with Saphir Renovateur to add a layer of water resistant protection, so it doesn't blister so easily. it's what H after-sales craftspeople use for box calf leather. follow instructions and spread very thinly.

Just as a note, not sure if it is a policy but my SA said to not treat boxcalf with anything, like creams or lotions, if you would like Hermes to potentially accept it for spa later on. I haven’t had personal experience as I don’t treat my bags but just what I have been warned.

That’s understandable since a lot of people overdo it and your SA is just erring on the side of caution. But if one has an experience in using leather products (e.g. for shining shoes) Saphir Renovateur is great for shiny leather products.

A black box Bastia is currently available on the US website! I’m not sure how it would hold up, but it looks lovely:
I've had a BB Bastia and Calvi ( thank you @Meta! for helping me find it) which I use and love. I've been using a Box calvi in Bleu de Prusse literally everyday since March, when I purchased it. Wears beautifully, a few scratches as expected, gorgeous sheen....what more could you want? (Answer? the matching Bastia, of course! :graucho:)

The first time I met my SA, he showed us examples of leathers Hermes uses eg Swift, Barenia. And then he ducked away and pulled out a Bearn long wallet in box leather - it was STUNNING. Unfortunately I wasn’t after a long wallet. But now I know I would love to add a box leather Hermes bag to my collection one day!

Hi all, I’ve got my eye on a K28 retourne in black box from 2002. My first Hermes bag is a K28 Sellier in part because I know I won’t have the patience to store a Retourne (in the more common leathers) properly to maintain its shape. But this box K I’m eyeing is just so beautiful (even with its flaws), can anyone advise how much work it is to maintain the shape of a box K?

Of course- here are 2 pictures from the day I got it. Different lighting allows the color to appear differently. And notice that it already had a scratch when I bought it- I've only added to the patina!
