ODE to Box Calf

I think it also depends on different stores: I spa my bags myself and send them to H spa every couple of years, they've always taken them in without a problem. It's different if you have actual work/repairs done by third parties, then H won't work on your bag.
+1. H spa has never rejected a bag that I have had spa-ed, but of course the experience of others is no guarantee. If acceptance by H Spa is important to you, common TPF advice is to only have H do spa work. The pros are obvious, The cons are that H Spa takes a very long time and will not address common issues like interior cleaning or darkened handles :)

Dear all, I just learned in the Identification-thread about my new to me vintage box kelly in „cream“ leather from the 90s. Actually, I learned that it is box leather  which I personally never have seen in this colour. Any thoughts on how delicate this might prove? Does anyone here own a kelly in this colour and would be open to sharing experiences?

Thank you so much in advance!IMG_3070.jpeg

Beautiful bag! It actually looks like Beige to me. I had a very light Kelly in Parchemin (so I was told at the time anyway) Box Nepal - very similar color - and honestly it's not as delicate as you would think. Obviously pens are your enemy and I would try to avoid coffee spills :) but otherwise it is still a finished leather and thus behaves like any other Box calf - if you are fast with the wipe down it should hold up.
I will look in my archives to see if I have any photos of my bag; I gifted it to my mom (who carried it a lot with no issues) and it was lost a couple years ago.

Thank you for your insight in this! I do love the bag and the look of it (it is overall quite pristine, just a medium-Deep scratch on the bottom that does not bother me) which is fantastic given it’s age. The one thing that keeps me wondering if I should keep it in the long run is how much I am actually going to use it. I like to use my things and I do have a Rouge vif Kelly 32 GHW and a black 32 kelly PHW, both in box, already. It is a K35.

Any thoughts are highly appreciated!

you know your style
regardless what it is (i.e. Kelly in Box)
would you use a pale-coloured bag?
would you use a bag that size?
It could be a superb addition to the great Kellys you already own.
If it were to be a question of either/or would an inky blue or dark green be a better addition?

Agree 100% with @WhiteBus
so long as you will use a sellier kelly 35 (it may be very heavy empty, and more awkward cross or shoulder carry due to depth) i would wear it happily with everything. I would just make sure your denim is color safe (this is an issue with denim, and I never understand why TPFers seem to blame the bag) Congrats! I do think this is far more chic going forward than the mini bags currently popular on the forum, but mine is the minority opinion. I do see larger kelly bags and Birkins in the wild in Europe, smaller ones in the US and Asia.

@880 and @WhiteBus: thank you for your opinions! I do very much prefer the K32 sizes and the B40, so size-wise I am happy. They are indeed so much chicer (is this an English word ?!?) than the smaller ones, esp the 25, for day time use and fit my life-style.

I might have the opportunity to place a SO rather sooner than later and would love to get a very dark green if still available by then, vert rosseau e.g.. Blues are beautiful on pictures but somehow not on me. So, I am pondering to add K28 as a SO for day to night purposes, maybe in matte croc or ostrich. Problem is I would like matte croc in sellier, which is not possible, as far as I know. I‘ve never had a K28 and never retourne so I am thinking really hard on this. Retourne strikes me as to casual for day to night and shiny croc to water-sensitive. With adding this bag, I would consider myself in purse peace
. Thoughts on this much appreciated!

So, i feel the K35 would be an add on and the one I could let go easiest. Or keep it and see how it turns out and maybe sell later?

Hard questions, which are an absolute luxury to be asking, for which I am very grateful!

I wish more people were in tune with the last line of your post.
