I did look at this as my first choice would have been a barenia plume but I couldn't believe it was barenia. It's lavender for goodness sake. Does it even come in this colour. Tricky to go by blind stamp as on a plume it's on the inside and am I right in thinking it reflects colour of HW even if it was barenia where it would be colourless.

What a mystery.

I'm pretty sure it is box calf. Can't recall the color name (Rose Pale? Lilac?), but I've seen it before on tpf, long long time ago.
!

Huh, box with those striations?? Have you ever seen box look like this?? Interesting...would love to know more.

Frou Frou, she's stunning! The stitching is such a beautiful and unique touch. Congratulations! Is this a 31 or a 36?

Cheapfrillnorth what an incredible find. I'm so envious! I think you just can't beat a Barenia Kelly and your photos make me determined to be your bag twin someday. I hope that you carry her with abandon (or something close to it, anyway)-- I can testify to the resilience of natural Barenia. Better yet, my own little scrap of natural Barenia can testify to it; I recently hauled a Barenia Evelyne all over the world with me, carrying it in every imaginable condition. It was hit with:

Thick red Moroccan mud
Sand and saltwater from the Pacific ocean
Hands with residual traces of greasy sunscreen
NUMEROUS cocktail splashes (I'm not going to confess how many), some including cream, one of the worst things for stains on textiles IMO
Grease splatter from a tempura fry-basket in Japan
Oily Pho broth in Vietnam
A piece of grilled lamb in Seoul

I'm sure there was more I'm forgetting, and in addition to the insults above my Evelyne got scraped and bumped repeatedly, as tends to happen in large cities and on airplanes and boats. Sounds scary, I know-- but here are some "after" photos. All I did was give my bag a light coat of Baume Renovateur before I set off on my trip, and if I saw an obvious stain or something got dropped on the leather, I took some water on a napkin and splashed it on until the spotted area turned dark dark brown (almost black). When the water dried, the mark would inevitably be gone. I haven't even re-Baumed her yet after her journey. Barenia is just an amazing, amazing leather! :D

WOW !! LOVE that you chose barenia Evy for travel bag and so good to know she made it through and still looks this fabulous!!

frou frou, what a lovely GP!! Best ever and she deserves to be shown off!

Lordy, what a special girl. I love the brushed look of paladium ONLY on Barenia! Gorgeous!

BARENIA LOVERS, have you ever seen PINK barenia???

LOOK!! I feel certain the description is correct and while the color is not for me, someone might snag a unicorn! Barenia, right?? Look at the striations on the back. Only barenia does this......

I believe that it is box Nepal. It is not barenia

What an amazing bag!! Major congrats!! She is a true hero!! Will phone my SA first thing tomorrow to get this H saddle balm! :smile1: Could I use this on Clemence and Fjord, too...? 🤔

This balm cannot be purchased in the USA but I was lucky enough to have a friend send me some. I dab it on my corners, piping, any spot that has a brush of use on all of my Togo and fjord bags all the time. It makes any scuff look better.

I have a girlfriend who completely "restored" the life of her workhorse barenia by herself with this miracle balm.

I might even start putting it under my eyes for goodness sake!!

Oh no, not available in the US? I agree, it restores Barenia beautifully, and in my opinion is easier to work with than a more liquid conditioner. Never thought to use it under my eyes, but the darned tin is so big, it'll last me forever..may as well look into other uses!

Hello fellow Barenia lovers,

As promised, a before-during-after sequence of pics to show how Barenia looks with the Baume applied.

1. Before (looking just fine, but a little bit dehydrated)
2. Resting with a coat of Baume on the front, looking dark, oily, streaky, and a little scary!
3. After-- a supple bag with the scratches blended in, looking a little glossier overall
4. You can see the amount of Baume I used to do the back, sides, and bottom of a PM Evelyne-- that little divet at the top of the Baume is where I scooped a small quantity out. I then just apply a little at a time with my fingers. Some areas will want more Baume than the others-- don't worry, it'll all look even in the end, and honestly you can slap it on pretty hastily and the bag will take care of it. No buffing necessary-- just let it sit and soak in. :smile1:

Thank you, L! :smile1: I really couldn't have asked for a more easygoing travel companion.

should i try buying the baume from the boutique? i have a lone olive green barenia kelly thats around 10 years old. only cleaned with leather conditioning wipes so far...View attachment 3332617

What a gorgeous Kelly! I think I NEED some olive Barenia in my collection.

I also use this on my Barenia and it works fabulously.

I should have mentioned that I knew about this magical balm from you! The only reason I didn't freak out when I first tried it is that I knew you use it on your truly gorgeous Barenia collection, so I had confidence it would work perfectly. :hugs:

Nevertheless , I do need a Winter Barenia bag , right?

You certainly do. :graucho:
