I've just received a Plume 32 in what I understood to be Barenia .
It's Ebene , so darkest brown , year 1999 , but the Hermès stamp inside is Hermès Paris Made in France and it's gilded .
I'm thinking therefore that maybe it's not Barenia , it's thick luscious and supple and the bag is divine . But it's needed for the rainy days when I can't use my other bags….

That must be a beauty! Will defer to the experts, but would guess that the inside stamp on a chèvre lining would be gilt, not heat stamped? Based on Barenia/toile Plumes I have stalked (sigh). I would give the base a *tiny* test scratch and rub - my ebene bag scratches and rubs out unmistakably as Barenia. (Risky reassurance?)

Bouboulina I've had time to read and reread the leather threads and have posted to Docride who I hope will know for sure, but I'm fairly sure the bag is not as described by the seller and i think it's Gulliver [ bag made in 1999]
The bag is gorgeous but I do have an option to return it , so I'll see what the verdict is on upkeep before I decide.
I'm after a tough gritty bag!

I recently committed to carrying this bag regularly after having it for a while. The patina is starting....but mostly on the front :weird: Hopefully the back will get some patina too! Not sure where the spots came from. There aren't any.

Either way, I hope I live through this phase!
Omg beautiful !

Plume stamps are always guilded regardless of the leather, as they are usually lined in either Chevre or Lambskin. It can make identifying the leather a challenge. Congrats on your purchase, I hope you will post pics if you decide to keep it.

Thank you so much for that , I'm pretty sure now that the leather is Gulliver as it has a fine grain . I was disappointed initially and considered returning it as I'd set my heart on Barenia, but within days I'd realised it was a great colour [still a mystery exactly what colour it is] and a perfect trans-seasonal all weather bag to fill a much needed place in my collection.
Now it's been used a couple of times and I'm thrilled to have a beautiful Plume at last .
I shall post it on the Plume thread now , and the the search for my perfect Barenia bag will continue soon!

That's wonderful, I remember you'd been looking for one. I had a similar experience, got a Plume I thought was barenia but turned out to be VN. I love it dearly though, best mistake ever! Enjoy your Plume, I'll look out for the photos and try to help ID the color, I love a good mystery :D

All righty barenia lovers - here is my very first H barenia bag that was brought home today! I love the Halzan and so very happy to have it in my favorite leather (other than chevre, though I would not want chevre for Halzan). It is the regular size and many thanks to Serva for sharing her mini with us!

Shown here with my little Pm barenia picotin with orange chevre handles. Must be barenia fate to have matching colors in both bags Lol. You can see the
difference in patina for sure!
