My husband actually offered to stand in line for me. He gets up much earlier than I do but I really don't have the heart to let him do it.

He totally understands the H addiction. And even supports it!!!

That happened to me one year. I was about 8th in line, until 5 or 6 women showed up and took the place of a young guy who had been sitting in a chair in front of me. They had been at a restaurant having breakfast and coffee. Needless to say, I didn't get in with the first group after that.

There's really an ethical line that gets crossed when you have that many people coming in line ahead of you. There's a 'strength in numbers' mentality that kicks in but it doesn't make it right.

But I would definitely say something. These are people I would never see again in my life and I really wouldn't care what they think of me.

I agree, audreylita. For me, it's really as simple as asking how I would feel if whatever it was happened to me. And if the answer is I'd feel unhappy or resentful, then most of the time I'm not going to do it to anybody else. For this reason I choose to stand in line for myself, by myself. I bring something to read and wear comfy clothes and just figure it's the price I pay for the privilege of being able to buy Hermes. At a discount. Seems like a fair exchange, all in all.

Agree with the one holder= one place :smile1:

Looks like I may make it Tuesday and would love to meet whomever is willing. Is there a secret handshake?:p makes standing in line so much more fun if you can make friends and have a chat.

Is the first day so chaotic when they let the ladies in that you wouldn't want to be carrying anything nice? For fear of it getting damaged? I am imagining everyone resorting to survival tactics clawing at the leather goods...

^^^At past sales that has not been a problem because (1) people are allowed in in small groups, so at least initially the crowding in the venue isn't too bad, and (2) you can't carry anything in bigger than a wallet. Handbags, carrier bags, etc. as well as coats MUST be checked on the ground floor. I was hassled for a wallet-on-a-string until I opened it for the guard and demonstrated that nothing could be secreted inside it--no room!

Thank you SO much for warning me! I would have been devastated to have to check one of my valuable bags. This will 100% affect what I carry that day. Thank you!!

I'm very happy I was helpful! The Soiffer Haskins crew who run the sale are professional and I have always felt that the check desk is trustworthy, but I agree that checking your OOAK exotic would not be a totally comfortable experience. Carrying as little as possible gives you peace of mind AND lets you be quick on your feet to snag that bargain!
