I'm starting to feel a little ashamed of myself. No, wait. I'm over it.

Normally, this kind of carnage would be done over the next few days but hey, I'm going to be out of town. I had to consolidate my efforts, right? Right.:p

Absolutely fantastic, restricter!!! And why not do it all at once? Who needs to go through that wait to
check out again - it was worse than a supermarket, but worth it - ONCE! Congratulations on your really
great buys. I almost got that Belles du Mexique, but the color wasn't great on me. And I got the Tigre in
brown and in pink - my first 70's. I definitely think you win the Sale Marathon for this year!!:yahoo:

restricter, you certainly did pick up some amazing stuff! Congratulations on the Plume! I had to keep myself in check but it is great to see the fabulous stuff people came home with.

Hey PPP and Frau PPP,
going up for the sale and other meetings, will be there @ 12N, would love to meet you again, we can meet by the ladies RTW since no one seems to be buying that, and then make a quick dash for the bags!
You two should come up before you go to Europem you will save money at the H sale that you would spend on H in Europe!
All the best, your DC friend

What a day .. restricter .. gorgeous plume .. and the touareg padlock, didn't know those exist .. hope to find one .. love your haul .. sure didn't see that color coming:nuts:

sdsurferchic: wow what a re-cap .. you rock!!

880 were you there today!?! .. too engrossed and didn't see you .. we got in about 9:15 and was lucky to find the bolduc GM's, though no brown and no gray .. made a bee line to the bag section .. found two travel pieces .. Victoria II/Cabas bag in RH/crinoline and the matching Victoria Travel 50 softcase .. a couple of capitale twillies, a corail and a rose indienne, lastly, a TR in Lie de Vin/blanc/Vert armande.

Might do more damage tomorrow .. thinking of the plume^

Overheard some interesting conversation by the handbags section. There where some ladies(w/ heavy french accent) behind the counters discussing and informing the buyers that all the leathers are all cowhides and that there is no difference w/ the exception of how a particular leather is finished resulting in togo, clemance, fjord, box, .. etc.
direct quote 'zay arh allh frum ze cow' and pointing to each bag as they taught that mini lesson .. cute .. but I hope they weren't over simplifying things .. not an expert here .. but do know what I prefer .. so I just smiled and went to examine the SLG's. The security was chuckling.

Sad, didn't find too much SLG's that weren't bruised ..

Hey PPP, hope to see both of you there ..

Bailey .. are you here in the city .. !?!

I am happy to see that I was not the only person totally annoyed by the HOARDING that was going on.

I was in line at 10 am got in at 11 am and there was a troop of women who were circling the event like hawks and then they would convene in the center of the sale by shoes and trade around. One of them had a huge list of scarves and items that she was looking for for clients - she was a reseller (hello if anyone from H corporate is reading this) = and the rest of the troop members kept looking to her for approval for the items that they were thinking of buying. It was a bunch of middle aged looking housewives in khaki pants and "comfortable shoes" and not the usual Hermes looking customer.

Whatever, its not the end of the world, but I know how long it took me to get the invite to the 10am part of the sale that I thought was exclusive and to see this sort of activity at a sale - especially a reseller there (there were more than one - the woman who owns the consignment store down the block was there too and she is another HOARDER) its just annoying.

I got what I wanted though - sans a shawl. At somepoint I will just go to the store and buy the one that i really want to stop aggravating myself with this sale.

I am glad you got what you wanted.

BTW, the ladies you are talking about could very well be members here, or could have been buying for friends not able to make the sale. I dont find anything wrong with khakis and comfortble shoes for serious shopping. :flowers:

I've been to two sales now (though I did not go to the NY sale this year) and I'm a bit perplexed that you are surprised that some people scoop up a lot. I saw the same thing .... but my assumption was that most of the people who did this were doing so for themselves. And since the sale is public (despite the invitation part, it's still not terribly restricted) why shouldn't resellers buy for their businesses? If Hermes wanted to place restrictions on how much people could buy, after all these sales, I am sure they would have done so by now.

As for people dressing comfortably and not looking like "the usual Hermes customer", when I went, there was a nearly two hour wait to get in, a lot of running around once inside, and then an hour long wait to pay. Comfort was a priority.

I'm sorry you didn't get everything you wanted because I know first-hand how frustrating that can be, but to my mind, that's just the way these sales go. It's like being outbid on Ebay. You win some, you lose some. And then on to the next item...

I had so much fun with Capulet today! She's the one who scored the big haul. I kept putting things in my bag I thought I might like, but decided there was nothing I really had to have - no H for me today!!

Capulet - Thanks for joining me today. I'm very happy you found the beautiful things and please enjoy them all in good health!!

I can tell you the sales people were not usual Hermes staff, they certainly didn't know much beyond the basics on the merchandise. The ladies at the bag counter were Russian and Greek and super friendly, but I wouldn't have relied on them for Hermes expertise. ;)
