Not Sure How I Feel About New Business Model...

Schizophrenia? Very insensitive to put it mildly. Lets not carelessly equate debilitating, life altering illness with a handbag!

It seems like you are looking for a fight on this thread. :smile1:

I now have you on ignore and I am very sorry if I offended anyone. :smile1: Please feel free to put me on ignore if you do not like my posts. Of course Schizophrenia was being used as a metaphor for the split personality that Coach currently has. :smile1:

Perhaps I should have said "two different personalities" to be politically correct? In any case I certainly did not intend to offend. There is enough drama on this forum without me adding to it. If the mods could please remove my offending post, that should keep the drama down for a few minutes at least. I have asked the mods to remove my offending post, have put the "offended" OP on ignore and now this thread should be able to get back to topic. :smile1:

Several higher end companies at looking into possibly acquiring Coach. I certainly won't spend that much money on any bag no matter who makes it. But if it means outlet bags will be a better quality than the cheap stuff they are making now, that might be a plus.

1. $498 and lesser priced bags will be factory bags only and no longer sold in boutiques.

2. Less frequent floor sets

3. Less siggy and more leather (more expensive) factory bags

4. Returns must be in person and approved by store manager, the return policy we know now is soon to be eliminated

5. Boutiques will sell pinnacle bags and smalls only, lower priced lines will be factory lines

6. No more PCE

I'm not sure if all of this will take place sooner or later or at all but this is what I've heard from more than one reliable source...

Above is the first post of this thread. Since then, there've been quite a few changes. I'm just wondering, for those of you who still shop Coach frequently (Coach FP stores, outlets, Coach.com), which ones of the 6 points above have become reality, or seems to have been the route Coach is taking? I only have access to FOS so #3 is the one I'm aware of. TIA!

I believe they need to revamp their return policy, but as for the rest I will believe it when it actually happens. Speculation is just that, I'm not gonna worry about something that I can't change. If this all comes to be, I will either go with it or change brands. I'm not gonna lose sleep over a handbag.:weird:

Really? Which ones? That's pretty interesting...esp. since Krakoff (sp?) is leaving...

Well actually looking back at the original post, I haven't noticed any of this yet.

1, 4, 5 & 6 have definitely not happened yet.

For 2 & 3, I haven't noticed. I don't pay attention to new floor set dates, and I've never paid attention to siggy vs leather proportion. Although the better quality/more expensive MFF has definitely happened with Francine.

This thread was started less than 2 mos ago so more time is needed to implement a lot of changes I'm sure.
Some have posted that store managers now have to approve their returns and some have posted that store managers have always approved the returns. I think it'll be awhile before we see consistency with Coach policy and that's one thing I'm looking forward to.

I have definately noticed an improvement with mff stuff. The Kristen line and the new daisy stuffs are nice!

Well, the new business model would have been okay with me given that I finally started getting the FOS invites and could get some of the FP items cheaper. But today it appears that there are restrictions on shopping FOS. So, I guess this will mean no Coach for me....nowhere to shop. The FP will be too high for me, and I don't live close to an outlet. The FOS, was a good inbetween.

Hey, I knew exactly what you meant.:smile1: No offense taken here and I have a schizophrenic brother who lives with me. But I'm not what you'd call the super-sensitive type either,:smile1: LOL. No worries.

Thanks jailnurse93! :smile1: I certainly didn't mean to offend. I was just meaning that Coach has two completely different approaches, one that has very frequent, large markdowns and a pricing strategy of bags which cost under $200 or so at the outlets, and a new approach where they want to be a player in the luxury market and sell $1k to 5k purses at full price.

I do not think those two very different approaches are compatible. That is just my opinion of course. :smile1:

The new fiscal year for Coach started today. If any big changes are coming we will start to see them unfold now

1. $498 and lesser priced bags will be factory bags only and no longer sold in boutiques. - Not true (yet?)

2. Less frequent floor sets - Not true (yet).

3. Less siggy and more leather (more expensive) factory bags - Seems true(r) these days

4. Returns must be in person and approved by store manager, the return policy we know now is soon to be eliminated - Maybe kinda true? Someone mentioned their store manager having to approver every return. I've seen otherwise as of Friday, though.

5. Boutiques will sell pinnacle bags and smalls only, lower priced lines will be factory lines - Not True (yet?)

6. No more PCE - Not true (yet?)
