duncan, I'm sorry this happened and hope you go back to have another SA help you. I, too, recently had my first "in store" experience and while they were as aloof as I'd expected, I've already decided they are going to get used to seeing me every once in a while. Go back and look at as many as you want!!

The SA lady who served was a 60ish elderly lady and she seems to work for Hermes for long time. The store manager was there too,I had a little chat with her long time ago and she is a nice lady too(but can be aloof sometimes..)Be quite honest, the overall experience wasn't bad,it was just THAT little thing putting me off a little.Again,I just don't quite understand the intention behind her since she had been nice to me.

Julide: It won't let this little stupid thing ruin my day,and you hit the point, why would I want to spend so much money but I can only view 6 scarfs?

CynthiaNYC:The thing that making me a little sad is, as much as we don't want to think Hermes SAs are snobby,aloof..etc but sometimes you just can't deny that they are a little...

Serenity Now : Thank you so much, and you're right,it is called Soleil de Soie.absolutely beautiful scarf, love the colors almost going to buy it, if only I receive better service that day...

mrssparkles : I was wondering the same.I felt restricted when I was trying on the scarfs, making me a little uncomfortable. It is sad that I tried to be A good customer but didn't get to be treated the same back.I miss the experience of my first Hermes purchase in Gold Coast, ALL the SAs include the manager were so lovely and nice, happiest shopping day in my life.lol

Grande Latte : Guess what, the SA didn't even showing how to tie the scarf. You SHOULD stick with that SA.

seton: Wow, I wouldn't dare to do so, at least not with her.

TammyD: Well, it was not horrible, as what the title said it was just "not-so-great".

^Respectfully, I don't think he was being self-centered at all; and as a former SA who worked Holidays, I know it's a relief and a joy to have a nice person come in who is genuinely interested, wants to see what we've got, try things on, etc... those usually turn out to be the best customers.... I'd have been especially nice to him were I working there--- just my .02....

Duncan mentioned that the bad SA was helping other customers as she was helping him and that he understood and didnt mind.

That is not the issue. The issue is that the SA made up an arbitrary rule that is FUBAR

Duncan, is there any possibility she said 'that's the last one today' meaning that was the last scarf in that colourway/design? I just wondered as you said she continued to be pleasant.

She did make it clear that I could only pick ONE MORE scarf to have a look and that would be it.I believe there was no misunderstanding in that.

Oh, it that case, you are right to be cross/upset. You should be able to take as long as you need and not feel rushed, pressured, hurried or limited to a set number of items. I'm sorry you had this experience but I'm not sure what I would do. I shop in France quite a lot, a country not always top of the list for great service imho but once you have an SA's attention, it is yours for as long as you need no matter what you are looking at, even just an Hermes book mark - you feel as valued no matter what.

Duncan...poor or rude service is unexceptable! SA's should have the knowledge and social skills when dealing with high ticket items. On a happy note...I just got a lovely "Holiday" card from Diana at the SCP store. She appreciated my business and told me to contact her if there was anything else she could do. I might add, this was a purchase I did over the phone! So...there are lovely SAs out in H land!!!

Exactly...if the shop was busy and he didn't mind not having the SA's undivided attention, then I don't see why a limit was imposed. I would have been pretty pissed. I enjoyed your use of the term "FUBAR"--haven't heard that one in a while!!

Sounds like you were shopping in Copehagen.

Anyhow, maybe she was not really serious. Or maybe she was soon to take her break?

Sorry you felt bad though. I'd just walk right out of the store if I didn't get exactly what I wanted.
