I thought the same way! My first Hermes bag was the B35 in Clemence and the leather was so soft and buttery. When I got my Togo Kelly, it felt a little dry... I'm hoping it gets better over time but from my two experiences, I do prefer the feel of Clemence over Togo but the love lightness of Togo.

My T stamp togo bag feels very dry and the leather seem thin. Very different from my togo bag that is a few years old.

 Togo... Love the veining and way it looks. I do notice the recent Togo is thinner and more "matte" but don't think it is like sandpaper.. have no issues with the new characteristics. carry smaller bags and while I like some natural slouch I won't like it to be too soft hence have always preferred Togo over clemence and I also prefer smaller grains. One upside of the newer Togo bags I find it looks new for longer plus it's light!

Anyway to OP you have to be comfortable with the bag... Take a look today again if you still cringe at it perhaps you can check with a few resellers what price you can fetch... Good luck!

I thought I was the only who noticed how "dry" new Togo feels. I am quite bothered of how thin the leather to be honest but I'd take Togo over Epsom or Swift as its still more resilient to scratches.

I have bags in box, Togo and clemence.
One of my Togo bags is from 5 years ago. The other one I purchased last month.
The leather on my most recent Togo bag is beautiful and I don't see a difference from my older bag. The color is rouge grenate so perhaps it might differ depending on the color (?).
Mine isn't ashy or dry in the least.
OP I'm sorry for your experience.

I agree. I recently got a Rouge Grenat Togo (2016) as well and it is thick, rigid and not dry at all. It is the best Togo I have in my collection. On the other hand, my Togo bag from 2015 feels very dry to the touch. I find that Togo from 2011 was not as dry but very thin.

I was waiting for a size 30 togo Birkin. After reading most of the comments here, I wonder if I should still get it, as I prefer shinny leathers. Do the 2016 bags in clemence have the same issues?

My skunk 2013 B had very thick, dry and heavy togo. Old one definitely looked more resilient but it had the smell of a dead plant therefore I didn't carry it around much to test its sturdiness.
I exchanged it earlier this year and the new togo was softer, veinier and yes, thinner, and like others have mentioned, quite similar to clemence. I saw no noticeable difference in color between old B and new B, so color shouldn't be much of an issue. The weight difference is huge, so I prefer the new Togo better.
