Hi all, I am new to this club. I am sorry to hear about MK brand declining. I have different styles of MK bags, bought from department stores. I haven't had any problem about the craftman ship and the quality of the product. They are all very well made.I've never had any quality issues with any of the MK bags that I have purchased. I've also never had any quality issues with any of my coach bags either.
I've felt both. Back to back on the same day in Atlanta. I wasn't impressed with Chanel. at those prices, angels should sing every time I wear the bag. My lifestyle just does not go with a bag that equates to 6 house payments. Luxury must not be my thing.
+1! Well said Minkette. Property over purses.
I thought the intended purpose of this thread was Nordstrom is limiting or scrapping it's MK collection. Somewhere this discussion took a turn and began bringing up someone's opinion about the brand.
I have Chanel, Louis just to name a few and MK. Do I like all of MK's stuff, no. Do I everything any brand does, no. Does it make it cheap or low quality, no just not my personal taste.
However, the pieces I do own are nice and have held up very well. I own MK bags, very comfortable shoes, beautiful jewelry and perfume. I think it's a solid brand and it has its appeal.
If you read up on the history of Mr. MK he is not some run of the mill designer.
Ladies and gents can like what they want. High end, mid to low end. It's all how you wear it. I've seen Louis and Gucci look cheap by the way the person put it together.
I'm all for designer bags, but take care of your health and teeth first. Or have some outfits to compliment that bag. Nothing worse than a woman in a designer bag, but her hair and outfit looks like crap. Might as well got that MK bag so you can have some money left over to purchase what's really important.
Well said. I totally agree.
Yes, the thread began with an article about Nordstrom's limiting the amount of MK the store carries due to competition with price matching Macy's. In this economy, everyone is trying to protect it's profit margins. The link & follow up links were informative & really nothing to get all bent about. This happened to Coach a few yrs back & Coach is still here. It's just one store's policy re-evaluation. MK has been around for quit a while & I don't think he's going anywhere. Trends come & go; designers fall in & out of favor with the public. This thread did not originate on the MK forum but was moved from another forum to this one.
But the thread seemed to immediately turn toward other's personal opinions of the brand....everything MK makes is junk, he copies all the other designers, poor quality, ect. While some felt the need to defend the brand they love, other's went on to say that his bags aren't made of real leather & even questioned whether the ladies that love & carry MK even know the difference between real leather & manufactured leather because you can tell if you've ever felt the real luxury leather of the high end premiere designer bags. While this may be a personal opinion, it amounts to brand bashing, bullying, & condescending on the forum of that particular brand & is unacceptable IMO.
Like you, I don't like everything MK puts out but I don't like everything that any other designer puts out. I like & buy what works & functions for me, regardless of whose name is on it. I don't buy bags that are going to put a pinch on my budget, price wise, either. I've never had a quality issue with any of my MK bags but that doesn't mean there are not quality issues. Every brand has quality issues at one time or another. Nor do I judge others by the handbags & accessories they carry. I do not equate self worth with handbags. I would never make derisive comments about someone else's favored brand & I cannot understand why someone would come to this forum to post their hate of the brand especially when they don't buy or carry it. SMH
I bought a small Fulton bag in black lambskin (wonderful to touch) but saw the same bag later in a department store and I am am pretty sure that one was not lambskin. Maybe they make some bags of the same model in lambskin and others in calfskin. (My lambskin bag has a slight sheep-smell to it.)
Amen! I know what leather is, lol. Wow. Have to be a real dingbat not to know the difference. If I don't know the difference, I shouldn't be buying it.I am one of those people who believe his leather bags are made of real leather. I am sure there is a difference in the quality of the leather but you cannot claim that all of his bags are made of the fake PVC "leather" that you claim it is. Vegan leather is essentially plastic (I assume your aren't referring to the designer vegan, animal friendly cork material) and I am 100% sure that the soft leather MK bags I own are leather, unless he can fake the leather smell and the texture underneath the surface it it gets scratched (and yes I do own real luxury brands (if LV leather counts) to compare. People who buy and like MK bags can own real luxury brands and we can be very happy with our MK bags, to assume we don't know the difference because we can't afford a luxury designer is so condescending
just curious if have you ever felt/owned Chanel lambskin, or Balenciaga lambskin? *those* are real lambskin bags. i purchased a MK bag one time a few years ago, which said it was leather, and although it felt very soft, it was more like a vegan leather, something manufactured as opposed to real. i returned it, because it wasn't leather, regardless of the claim on the tag. i just wonder how many people believe his bags are truly leather? they don't feel that way at all, especially if you own the real luxury brands, you can just feel the difference. MK bags are very poor quality leather, if they even are.
Well, if MK is selling a non- leather bag for $400 and claiming it's leather, please call a policeman for us and have this taken care of! I have felt other lambskin bags, thank you very much. I feel confident his bags are leather.
