Does anyone else do this? I will get excited and find certain things that I *think* I love right at the beginning of the sale, but then reality kicks in and even though I do really like the item(s), I see other things that I really like that are more realistic to wear, even if not very "unique", and then am stuck on what to do. This happens every year lol and inevitably I end up returning several of the original things that I was sure would be keepers.

For example, I go to work 3 days a week, I'd say about 60% of my work clothing is by Eileen Fisher, and I rarely wear dresses to work unless they are simple and cotton or linen. I wear a blazer to work maybe 1-2 days per year. I avoid synthetics because I already have a sweat issue and synthetics make it 100x worse. Now then why did I buy the striped Rag & Bone polo knowing that it's 100% synthetic?? I know better, I am going to return it.

Also, my original love was (and still is) the nordstrom rib zip cardigan in grey- Do I also NEED the grey nordstrom blazer? I decided that since I got the cardigan, I will return the blazer.

I am still questioning the navy Frame dress I got, I really like it but even with the sale price of $220, that's a lot for a pretty basic cotton dress, I'm more inclined to just wait for one of Eileen Fishers great sales to get a 100% cotton dress for around $100.

I need to also analyze my closet- See what I currently have and what would actually make sense to add to my closet, rather than just adding stuff that I like.
I have been trying to analyze what I wear - which is super casual comfortable stuff and t-shirts with either bands I like or places I visit or Wonder Woman or Baby Yoda or Taylor Swift. I work from home and on many days, I wear sweats, then change into workout gear, then shower and think "it's 3pm, should I get dressed for a couple hours?" I wear my cute stuff and leather jackets when I leave the house, but I am not putting on a whole outfit with accessories every single day (the only thing I miss about going to an office).

I am definitely guilty of seeing lightening and stars raining down from above when the first leather jackets and bags and sunglasses drop and then ending up with 4 LS zella tees, a bliss throw blanket, a relaxing candle, and sugarfinas by the end of the sale.

I do wear the following daily/weekly: sneakers (all different ones - my friend informed me that I am an official sneaker head), workout clothes, sweats, sweatshirts, t-shirts, socks, underwear (as you all know), face products, sunscreen, socks, jackets, comfortable button downs, comfortable oversized sweaters, an everyday handbag, and earrings. I can't WAIT to use my dyson multiple times a week. I also cook multiple times a day so I like to get pots/pans/serving bowls/etc. Comfortable blankets every day OF COURSE.
The problem is that I have a zillion of all these things.

My Nordstrom day:

Found some cute all leather Converse on sale and ordered store pick-up since I knew I had to do returns. Thankfully, they were at my local Nordies so they were ready for pickup before lunch time.

I was able to process my returns. I also transferred my scratch cards and $15 beauty to a gift card. No issues. Thanks for the tip!

I ordered lunch to go and used my $25 gift card. Food was good!

Im sort of in the same boat. I work from home and have way too many clothes for someone who does so. I do get dressed most days but it is like a uniform. Jeans or some fort of pants, sometimes joggers and a tee. Maybe on days when I have a lot of Zoom's I will put on a button down.

I just sent Thred-up a bunch of items from my fantasy-self clothing items and shoes.

Ha! I just packed up a box to Thred-up, too!

If you live close enough to make it worth while, i would go into the Nordies and shop around. Every time I returned stuff i went and looked at the clothes and they actually had quite a bit of stuff left. Even items that still say ‘sold out’ they have. I saw a woman the other day returning like 50 items, she had like 6 bags of stuff and each bag was stuffed full. So, you may find something that you never even thought of that you end up loving.

Yesterday I was thinking about it and decided to make the drive because I don't really do much shopping anymore. Then I was busy doing all sorts of stuff around the house. Started cleaning my fridge and decided that it's not worth the time. The store closest too me is small and never has anything good. I was also tempted because there's a container store across the street. Honestly that's more exciting than that nordies lol. The one I'd really like to go to that has a good selection of stuff is a hour+ one way drive and I honestly don't want to waste 2+ hours on that drive. I have several apps that will pop up with "remember this day" from years ago. I used to do back to school shopping during this sale with my niece and nephew. Seeing that and the items that I got in the past compared to what the sale has become is kind of a turn off.

I ended up going to the rack for my returns which is only 10 minutes from where I live and let me tell you I was rewarded for doing so. First they have the mini shopping carts some one left one in the lot so I didn't have to struggle with the huge amount of stuff to return. The woman who did my return made it so easy and even double counted my items to make sure nothing was missed. I decided to take a look around and I ended up with a major score. I found a pair of good American jeans on clearance for $9.99 for my SIL and they have a extra 25% off clearance. I'm like even with it being final sale if she doesn't like them $8.05 isn't a loss. I could give them to a woman at my dad's church who sells on ebay and easily get my money back.

My rack had a small beauty display of sale items. That was the only Nsale stuff in the rack.

I think we pretty much all do the 'love at first site' thing. You've done a good job of analyzing what will actually work for you after seeing the actual items. Plus if there is an item you love but maybe isn't so practical, you feel better about the splurge.
I have a fun one day a week retail job. Whenever we get new clothes, we all ooh and ahh over what we want to get when allowed to buy new merchandise after the initial period. Oftentimes by then I’ve lost interest in almost everything and am tired of seeing most of it. Or I try some on and realize they don’t work for me so I lose interest in things I was obsessing over. It’s like going in a bakery or candy store and wanting everything and then deciding it’s not as good as you thought it would be.

I placed another order…

Archipelago candles in each scent. Good holiday gifts (plus a couple for myself teehee).

Ugg shearling throw, mask, and tote set. One of each color as holiday gifts.

Dr. Martens Leona Combat Boots. I need something like this for fall/winter. Hoping these work out. Last time I bought Docs was in 1988 and I just gave that pair away (they were only 3 eye and I need booties) so time for a new pair!

Zella Cloud Fleece Sweatshirt in pink peach. Bought the pink violet one and love the fit. Wish they offered this in more colors. Would love a blue one!

Rag and Bone Dre jeans. I’ve been striking out with the jeans in this sale. I love the Dre and don’t need more but I don’t have any in this wash so… 🤷🏻‍♀️

The only thing I’m casually stalking are Hokas. I went for On Cloud this time and hated the fit. My feet are used to Hoka now.

Ordered three of the Zella Relaxed Washed Long Sleeve Slub Tees and all three fit differently. Checked tags to confirm they were all the same size.

Thunder was the largest/widest, had an almost boat neck collar and the sleeves were comically long.

Pink Violet had a wide collar (but not like the Thunder) and sleeves not as long. Keeping this one.

Black had more of a crew neck collar and I didn't like it being so "tight" after wearing the others. If I had not tried on the other two maybe it would be worth keeping? It's been a long week and my brain hurts too much to comprehend what the heck is going on with these shirts!

Just thought I'd mention in case anyone doesn't like the fit of this shirt. Another color might work better for you!
