You are right about that, everybody knows she was influenced by Kim. But I thought in an interview she said she was inspired by her and some other artist. But I might have heard wrong.
That's what the "beef" is about!! Lil' Kim is going bananas saying she should just say she was influenced by her music and style and move on! I agree...I bet if they did a song together that would hot...remember "Ladies Night"??? 
Thats what I thought I heard on a interview with Nicki. But I just dont recall what interview it was.
Now I have to find this interview...I've just been watching the drama between the two. Plus the videos with Lil'Kim & Ray J vs. Drake & Nicki.

Nicki's popularity is not surprising to me. Most of her fans were too young to enjoy Kim (my fav female rapper back in the days) and Foxy's reign on the charts. The better female MCs (Jean Grae) will never be popular since they don't sell sex. The technicolor/80s babies are eating her up.
I have yet to like her songs, although the Bedrock verse I know word for word. We'll see if that changes in the future.

If you really want to see her rap, find her mix tape and her videos on YouTube. She shows far more talent then this commercial crap.
Her lyrics are horrible but like everyone else said, she's really the only female rapper making money right now. The whole thing with Lil' Kim is she basically ripped her style (neon wigs, insane outfits) and she never said once that she was influenced by her. I can see where Lil' Kim is coming from and I actually have to agree with her.
You know my friend and I were just having this convo. I was telling her how I really wasn't impressed by anything I'd heard from Nicki Minaj and she said the same thing that her mix tapes is where she really shows her talent. I haven't heard any yet.
I gotcha one better. If she's trying to perp like this photo shoot wasn't Kim-inspired...puuuleeze. Also, you can tell her nose is different (maybe other stuff too... I guess this was pre-surgery?)
I would agree. I've never heard/read any of her interviews though so I can't say for sure.
