I heard "Your Love" is #1 on the rap charts. She's the first female MC to score a number 1 single in 8yrs.

Congrats to her.
not suprised. kids enjoy catchy songs that dont require any engagement. Her first single massive attack was a big fail but this one caught on b/c of that annie lennox sample i suspect

I was wondering when she was going to get a thread. I know she had alot of surgery but I think she is so pretty.
Is this her 1st album? She has been on so many songs.

it's sad that most female rappers who actually have something to say wont ever make it as far as she has. *sigh* I really wish lauryn hill still made music and didnt get struck down by that Marley dick... I miss her a lot. She could sing, rap, and never had to take her clothes off to do it

:roflmfao: @ Marley

Nicki's popularity is not surprising to me. Most of her fans were too young to enjoy Kim (my fav female rapper back in the days) and Foxy's reign on the charts. The better female MCs (Jean Grae) will never be popular since they don't sell sex. The technicolor/80s babies are eating her up.

I have yet to like her songs, although the Bedrock verse I know word for word. We'll see if that changes in the future.

I didn't know she's had surgery? What has she done?

It's weird that Annie Lennox is being sampled so much.

Sam Adams also sampled her in "Driving Me Crazy".

i dont think she had breast implants, most likely she has good bras. Butt implants i can see and apparently a nosejob too. I personally think she was prettiest before the barbie era

I have been out of the mainstream loop because I feel music is getting crappier and crappier. Her included. I don't know who she is but if she's featured in every other song, I think she's not improving things for me lol.

IMO, Lil Kim will never come as hard as she did with "Hard Core" I like that album a lot and she hasn't released an effort that could match it. Everything else she released is :blah:

These days Kim seems to be in her feelings about Nicki Minaj.....she's done some really childish attention seeking things. She either needs to step to her musically or STFU and have a seat.

I know I'm showing my age but who is Jean Grae? Forgive me, lol. I'm a 90's baby :D

Jean Grae is one of the BEST female mc's to EVER do it. She is awesome, but she doesnt talk about pussy on your side burns and shaking it for daddy so no one cares about her. check her out on youtube. Yes lil kim did come off as childish with the whole beef with nicki but I could sort of see where she was coming from. I dont understand how Nicki thought she could walk around looking like lil kim 2.0 without anyone noticing. Damn the Queen Bee's hey day wasnt that long ago... Yesterday kim's the jump off song came on my ipod and i still remember every word.:graucho: There was a line where she said, "Black barbie, dressed in Bulgari, tryna leave in somebody's ferarri". I found it rather ironic in reference to the minaj situation all these years later. But you know what they say, pop culture goes in cycles

Kim never came as hard as Hard Core because all the creativity died with Biggie since he wrote all of her rhymes.

She is still better than Minaj.

Foxy was good too but she is so damn nasty personality wise. I saw her on Mo'nique awhile ago and she looks alot like Angie Stone. Not in a bad way.

Eve *crickets*. Is baffling. She was fiyah and I still listen to just her verse on Missy's Hot Boyz remix. Love Is Blind was another good one. She had alot of hits.

Oh yeah, Eve really brought it at times.

I loved Foxy too in that Hardcore/Ill NaNa era. Sucks that she let it all go to her head. I do believe that getting that type of notoriety at her age was not good for her at all. She probably became *****y back then but because she was popular people let it slide.

Kim did ok with Notorious K.I.M, and it only got worse after that. I still love Hardcore though, I was 14 when it came out- I remember my parents played it by accident one evening when I forgot to remove it from the living room stereo. Remember how scandalous the intro was? My mom straight broke the CD in half right in my face!

I went out and bought it the next day.

[Nicki Minaj]
yo, all I do is win aint that the reason that you really mad
undisputed hailing all the way from Trinidad
I aint mad Ma, I see you with your bummy swag
I’m in that money green Jag lot of money bags,
I told Khaled that you the best but I’m the bestest
better run for cover if your name is on my checklist
you can talk slick all the way down to the welfare
as the IRS b-tch I’m paying for your healthcare

While I find it very clever, and her performance in the "All I Do Is Win (Remix)" video is Oscar worthy, the bold lyrics are making me sigh with disappointment. When I first heard that on the radio, I was mortified. I know having a less than savoury relationship with her father isn't supposed to make her relate to ...oh, ... "those without", and because I don't know what her money situation was growing up, but... I'd think the situation with her dad would leave her with a *spark* of compassion for others in general. But, I guess when you've got to boast in these types of songs, true or not, you've got to do it. Business is business, rhymes are rhymes. Ephemeral boasting, ...'til they repossess your s***. :)

D*mn, Nicki, damn. :nogood:

It's still d*mn clever, though. <3

ETA: I mean, ... it's like Mariah and "Obsessed". The ego is mortifying. Not EVERYONE is "obsessed" with you, Mariah, and they'll especially find you nasty if you belittle a man because he wasted his time on your crazy, psychopathic a**. There's being a diva, a la, Beyonce, and then there's being a horrible, concieted person.

Just lyrics, but never-the-less.

Also: Lil' Kim is HEAVENLY.

(and I hate you, Nick Cannon)
