traffic is messed up though. . . although it should be fine Penn station down to 18th st - it're really just cross town and midtown due to motorcades.

I also just read a message about the us assembly. I intend to drive - using mapquest. Do I need to be aware of anything near the pavillion? I would normally go past what's nyu I think and come up and find a parking garage near the met. Are some of those roads closed?

880, it's a nightmare EVERYWHERE. I can hear the sirens and modercades going across 42nd and down Lex don't know what's going on underground and if it's moving any faster. I think it's cutting it real close time wise, especially since there's no way to know how long it will take to get in.

Sorry. I don't know what the traffic is like on the west side.

I don't know what your starting point is, but you should take the west side highway to the 14th street exit, to 6th avenue and start looking for a parking garage. At least that's what the guy at Met Pav said when I called just now:smile1:

:D You told your DH about the sale? :p Which color/leather combination did you get? I bought the PM in etoupe epsom in Paris. I guess I paid for the experience ;) And the past four months of owning it... I like your thinking of making up for it by going to the sale next year! I'm in California, but the sale prices will definitely make up for the airfare!

you're totally right! I wouldn't mind hitting up NYC for the next sale. It looks like the best H sale in the US! DH got me a Brique Vache Liegiee (sp?) . I love love love this leather! your etoupe epsom sounds so yummy!

coming from nj, thru lincoln tunnel...dryer ave...a lot of lefts and rights to 7av i think. Sorry not terribly familiar with nyc layout! are there any blockages in the below approach?

DYER AVE. 0.1 mi
Turn LEFT onto W 34TH ST. 0.1 mi
Turn RIGHT onto 9TH AVE. 0.5 mi
Turn LEFT onto W 23RD ST. 0.3 mi
Turn RIGHT onto 7TH AVE. 0.2 mi

That could work. Make sure you go into the right hand tunnel or you are forced to go in another direction and end up in the thick of it at 40th street. I guess you don't want to go the Holland and then go north on the West Side Highway?

coming out of the lincoln tunnel, get in either the VERY RIGHT or VERY LEFT (the extremes - not even the one next to it will work). BOTH will take you out of the tunnel with an option get to the 31st street exit. follow the road and signs to exit on the 30-31st street exit. go through two lights and at the second light make a left (you won't have any other option). at the first light (which is 9th ave) make a right. you can head straight down 9th avenue until 18th street and make a left onto 18th.

i just did a quick search...scroll to the middle of the page "UN General Assembly..."
http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/motorist/trafalrt.shtml

looks like the lincoln tunnel would be a better option than the holland and no expected street closures in the area.

To anyone who went to the sale today, is there anything left?

racked.com has the following update on their website today and they make it sound like nothing's left.

"We sent a capable informant over to Metropolitan Pavilion to check on Day Two of the Hermès sale. The verdict: It's more calm, but the line to pay is still painful. Bigger items are mostly cleaned out, as are fragrances, so what's left are mostly ties and scarves and "like four bracelets."

Wow...sdsurfchick....you really did good there! The scarved all look beautiful and all those scarf rings.....:woohoo:
Yep ... lucky for my bank account most of that stuff was for five or six friends. Looking forward to reports from today and tomorrow to see if replenishing is still occurring. Saturday of last March's sale was amazingly well stocked with silk stuff not seen in precious days, i.e., mousselines.
