New 'rules' for buying quota bags UK?

It’s easier but do they still expect you to come in regularly to spend while you wait? It would be nice to get rid of that pressure, especially if spending doesn’t dictate when/if you get a bag!
The impression I got was that it is completely unrelated to spend-I would think that those who spend across all categories of Hermes and at a higher level will continue to do so.
I suspect it will stop the 'game-playing' whether this mean lower sales figures across other categories remains to be seen, However I do feel that it means that those who love the brand and buy it for the love of the quality and products on offer but dont have endless funds to keep spending on items they dont really want in order to get an offer of a quota bag (ie;people like me!) will find it a much fairer playing field :happydance:

Hmmm this can be good in a way that you don't have to pre-spend your money on something else but will SAs even take down anybody's wish lists and their contact details if they've never made any purchase? To me spending is how my SA gets to know me, know what I really like and what suits me etc to later on offer the bag that she thinks would suit me.

Maybe your sort of relationship will lead to more SO offers? tbh as I'm not a Hermes employee I can only hazard guesses.

Very interesting. In 2012 when I just started with H, I called my SA and told him I wanted to be put "on the list" for a Birkin as that was their system (maybe just for newbies like me?) at that time. He told me that I had to come to the boutique to do that. I was like huh? Ok weird Hermes rules. So I went in that day. It was raining and I was wearing yoga pants and Uggs. I mean I was just going in to put my name on the list right? Walked out with my first Birkin that day in the spec I asked for =)

Glad that is not my current boutique's policy.... at least not that I have ever heard.
The only newish rule change is that you get 2 quota bags a year rather than one per semester.... so no semester rule anymore.

This is such an interesting thread because I wonder if H in Canada has moved to this approach? My friend and I only started shopping at the boutique for the past year or so but haven't spent much at all and she received a Kelly wallet to go (after spending about $1k) and I'm told I might even get my Danse this year (I've only spent $500 at H so far!). I know these aren't quota bags but they are hard to get, and almost impossible without an SA relationship. We keep trying to make sense of it and we assumed that H is probably trying to at least get us our first bags since we are new customers and that perhaps the quota might kick in after our first bags. Though now I wonder if the whole model is being adjusted gradually... would love to hear about others' experiences!

I'm in the US and they started this last year! Instead of a long, generalized wishlist, your SA puts a specific bag in your profile. You need to be specific with size and color. Even though my profile was updated, I still received offers of bags that were not my exact specs. Hope that helps!

Definitely not the case at my USA stores. Nothing has changed here as far as I’m concerned.

Also - more on topic - I have not heard any changes from my US store but I’ve already finished my bag buying for this year. I do know that the whole “specific bags” wishlist thing has been going on for a long time though. My SA put down what I was looking for (bag, size, color etc) on her iPad with me the very first time we talked about quota bags and wishlists and that was quite some time ago. She did mention a limit of I think 3(?) when she entered those.

But then afterwards the first offer I got was not something on that list. And more importantly I’ve never actually updated it ever since (as in my SA has never updated whatever the record is in front of me NOR has she ever specifically asked me what 3 specific bags I’m looking for next). Instead it’s just been like she knows roughly what I’m looking for (ie my taste) and has just been telling me about bags that are coming in that I might be interested in.

Of course with everything that’s happening this year I’m not going to be surprised if there are adjustments. But at the end of the day I think the important thing is H “rules” are never like laws. They vary so much depending on many factors, are deliberately vague / hard to “verify”, is never an exact science, and can be “bent” whenever. I’d just continue to buy and enjoy what you want, be nice and honest to your SA...and I’m sure the bags will come!

I hope so. My SA took my wishlist and added it to the system but I did get a run through of purchase history and diversified spending, with bags not counting towards the spend amount. I’m fairly new to purchasing in store, not a big spender and there are categories I am not yet likely to purchase but hope we get the chance to get quota bags too.

Oh no regardless of offers or not that sounds weird you still don’t have an SA. Did nobody give you a card?
No. Not once did the SA’s offer a card. Every time I asked for a B / K I’ve been told:
They don’t have any at the moment,
There are no wishlists,
You just have to be a regular customer,
and visit the store often.
