new rule - no Kelly or birkin to walk ins??

Per my SA's suggestion, I went to the Madison store this morning and chatted with her about Birkin availability. She confirmed that they are taking inventory this Sunday, and that they would not be receiving anything, especially Birkins, until the end of next week, ~Friday.

She said that they would be receiving lots of bright colors, but that the classics - gold, etoupe, black - would also be available soon-ish. She again reiterated that she would love to sell me a Birkin, and suggested that I call her back, or visit, the following week. I told her I really didn't want to wait ~4 months for a bag, and she said that I wouldn't have to wait that long.

My only concern is, that the SA didn't take my contact info down, so she doesn't have my info handy if/when the Birkins come in. Was the SA just giving me her "script" and not intending to sell me a Birkin until I buy more H stuff from her?

She sounds sincere! She must already have your contact information from your previous purchase? I was planning to go to Madison this weekend but called this morning to find out that they aren't expecting new stock until next week as well. Good luck with your search!

Hello, I have just joined this forum after lurking for ages and I was wondering if anyone could help me with the problem that I have.

I desperately want a Kelly Bag, but I feel like I will never get one. :sad: I live in rural England (approx 5 hours from London), and I am very ill (awaiting a transplant) so I cannot get to Hermes in London in order to establish a relationship to get a bag.

Is there anything I can do? If I rang and explained my situation, might they let me place an order? Or perhaps they might be able to put a bag aside for me to collect, if I am well enough at that time to make the trip? I am just simply not well enough to keep travelling such a long way to try my luck. :sad:

My instinct tells me you will have no luck. No phone conversation is going to open the door. Time would be better served focusing on yourself, positive energy, rather than wasting it getting bummed out with the boutique. Wait til you can pursue a Kelly. However, if patience is not your virtue (and it is not mine either) then look for a pre-owned over the internet. Be sure to run it by the authenticators here. Hermes requires much patience and even then there is no guarantee. (I'm the pessimist or realist, whichever term one wishes to use. I've been trying since '09 to acquire a Kelly from the boutique to no avail and yes, I've purchased other "stuff" from them. I just don't have a horseshoe implanted somewhere let alone a shooting star. (They even wrote down my wish list a few years back. . .)

Wishing you good health and better luck than I (in all things not just H).

Thanks for replying. :smile1: I might try ringing the London boutiques anyway, I suppose I have absolutely nothing to lose, but I will not have any expectations of success in order to avoid being disappointed when they say no.

A Hermes Kelly is second on my wishlist (after a new kidney of course), but since I cannot do anything but wait for a kidney, I was hoping that I could distract myself by trying for a Kelly. The only thing worse than being depressed about not having a new kidney (yet), is being depressed about not getting a kidney AND being bummed out about not getting my dream bag.

I really really hope you get your Kelly soon, jmen. :smile1:

You sound optimistic and very humorous, do report back on your outcome.

I did get a Kelly from H after spending lots on other items but not in London :) However I have discovered eBay, as long as you let the authenticators check the bags before you purchase I believe it's quite safe. Look through france eBay, they have very good buys recently.

I hope you take really good care of yourself and getting both your kidney and Kelly real soon....

DH was just at Selfridges on Sat and they had just received a black togo 28 kelly. I wasn't looking for black so nixed it. Since I wrote this morning, my SA phoned to say I'm going to get to special order my kelly in Rose Tryrien chevre. Am over the moon. I've begged so long for a 28 that honestly I'd given up. Enuf of me, what size and color and leather are you hoping to find?

DO you mind me asking the name of your SA? She sounds great! I unfortunately haven't encountered the most welcoming SA's in Madison.

I have thought about ebay and other resellers but I am concerned that super-fakes might fool genuine resellers and the authenticators.

Huge congratulations!! I am delighted for you! :D

I am also encouraged to hear that Selfridges had a Kelly available. My lovely lodger is from London and is willing to pop into a boutique or two on my behalf when she next goes back there so I will keep my fingers crossed!

I am pretty flexible on what I want. I don't want croc leather and I don't want any colours that are too bright, but other than that I am happy to see what I can get hold of. I would ideally like a 32 Kelly. :smile1:

Does anyone have any names of "nice" SA's that would speak to me about purchasing a birkin or kelly without waiting ??

"Downbutnotout" would it be possibly to let me know who you spoke to in the Madison store ??

If you frequent the Wall St store then why don't you try asking the SA that helps you? It definitely does not hurt to try ;). In my experience, just because an SA offers a person a B/K, does not necessarily means that he/she will offer one to you as well.
