Wow you got lucky. I asked for a Birkin at Madison(even bought from that sa before) and she practically laughed at me.

Sad to say the Madison staff is something else, try wall street for a more pleasant time! Almost every time I was being shown birkin options in the fitting room I overheard other customers asking for birkins and the SA saying "oh no we have not seen them in a while" meanwhile I was in a room with them. it's all a game and I am not convinced it's about money as I did not spend on other items, however I was wearing some Hermes ready to wear I have bought over the years!

dear all,

this coming18 dec - 3 jan, im going to new york for Christmas and new year celebration. i never hunt any birkin kelly in USA before. normally just went for holiday at states and shopping branded at Europe. my plan is just NEw york, but...........thinking to visit vegas + hawaii for the hunting bag

-should i visit hawaii & vegas?its quite far from new york. is it worth it for birkin kelly hunting trip?

-do u suggest any other city other than those two?

-how many bag can u buy for each passport in the states?

- in states, can u call to reserve the bag or just walk-in? any recommended SA?

please share your story. thx u

Yes,it's really difficult to see a birkin or Kelly as a walk in,
They always say NO even you bought something but not so much.

Another question is what would you do if you got a birkin you don't like most?
After spent a lot I was offered a birkin few month ago, undoubtedly I bought it right away. but the color is not my favorite so I still keep it new on my closet. What would you do if you got a bag like that? Try to carry it or just keep it until someday perfect ?

Sometimes I really don't like Hermes rule !

Exactly. That happened to me and I decided to sell my Birkin even though it was so hard to come by.

I been to the H in Vegas, NY, SF and I was not offered any K or B. IMO it really depends on your luck and some ladies here were offered one even though they didn't buy anything. GL.

Honestly the sa's don't know until the day before a delivery what is in the shipment, then they begin to allocate to VIP clients. Throughout my time in obtaining a very particular leather and HW combo I was taken to a fitting room and showed the birkins that arrived for the week! While being shown I can't tell you the amount of times I heard people asking the SA for a birkin and the SA saying "sorry haven't seen one in a while", meanwhile I was two feet away viewing two or three options. It's all a part of the game with Hermes. You need a relationship with an SA, not always one built on money and spending although that is the easiest way. With time if you get to know a SA and you build up a relationship that's the key to getting what you want with out buying

I have been trying forever to get a birkin - I have walked in - in the past and seen the crocodile diamond ones for $185K and once I saw a 35cm in a light beige brown color. Not sure name of color. And one time I saw a 30cm in a color that I did not want...but since they took the bags off the floor, I of course have not seen anything. I work with an SA but it has been 3 years and I go in regularly and have not ever been offered a birkin or kelly. guess it is luck.

I think this really depends on how your interaction with the SA too. indeed they don't just offer to walk-ins but no harm checking. Sometimes when they realised that you do show an interest in their products, the leather and history of their product making etc. they will tend deem that you are one worthy customer to be offered a B or K.

never hurts to be nice to the SA too. Relationship building is really important.

Hope you have repeatedly let your SA know what you are dying for. It was 4 years of shopping and repeatedly asking for a 28 kelly in either RT or bouganvillea. Well heck, I even did a wish list to no avail with the former SA and SM. And truthfully, I had just thrown in the towel and finally came to grips with it just ain't gonna happen. That's when the call to order came. A lot depends on the individual SA and I'm thinking perhaps their relationship with the SM may factor in the equation but who knows. Buying history is reviewed. I have a nice stack of orange boxes of things I use though.

You've heard the phrase in real estate: location, location, location. With H it is relationship, relationship, relationship and it is not just all talk about H either. These folks are have interests outside the retail setting. It is nice to include them in conversation and not just me, me -- me want birkin or kelly.

Same here. I live in the tropics and after I made rather a big purchase on a piece of jewelry I was offered a Birkin, but its totally winter color. And myopinion of Birkin AFTER owning it is that its not so versatile, but I think I feel this way mostly because of not getting a "100% sure" bag.

Agree...ThAts why I go to reputable resellers now.I can choose the color which I like ,the size of the birkin and the leather too..

Hi! So if you are trying to hunt and not travel far from NYC, I know it seems counter intuitive, but I would try the Riverside, NJ Hermes. They usually have a surprisingly large selection of bags (once they had an entire cabinet of just bicolored Picotins!). I work with an SA there who told me one of her clients just bought a BE B and I've seen a couple So Kellys there. Just a thought! If you need a SA recommendation PM me!

I was in New York (from Hong Kong) for a business trip and decided to pop into the Madison store and try my luck for my girlfriend. Went on Friday afternoon (the 21st), my first time ever to the store, in really casual clothes and just asked the first SA I saw if there were any Kellys. Didn't have any sort of expectation of course.. was almost like, I don't even care if you think I'm a total joke. The SA was friendly and nice, asked me what size I was looking for, to which I replied "28 or 32, preferably box leather (instructions from my gf). At this point I thought she must've been like, yeah, whatever, in your dreams. She went in the back to check for me, and a couple of minutes later comes out with the good news that they did have one (not box) and asks me if I wanted to see it. So I'm taken to the small room where she unboxes a 32 togo Kelly in bleu obscur. I'm like, this is awesome but can I go up and make a phone call to my gf? And she was very patient and said she'd put it behind te counter for 5 min.

So I went outside and got on the phone for quite awhile, and was instructed to not buy the Kelly, but just get the orange Jige PM that I also saw on display. So I went back to the SA and told her I didn't want the Kelly, paid for the Jige, and left... Only to receive an urgent phone call from my gf, who probably realized she was being an idiot pissing on my good luck, instructing me to go back and get the Kelly... I rushed back, smiled at the SA and waited for 5 mins as she helped some other customers, and told her I was back for it. She was still really patient and basically looked at me as if to say, you have no clue how lucky you are that it's still here. Bottom line - sometimes it takes some dumb luck I guess!
