New Gucci 1955 Horsebit Bag

I fell on this thread because I'm considering replacing my LV Pochette Métis with this one (I could plaster horsebits all over my outfit, when it's not bamboo)
The dimensions given on the website are the same between the Gucci and the LV.
Honestly, the bag is far from looking that big on me (talking about the Pochette Métis)
I know I'm not exactly what can be called thin, but don't you think either they model with very short ladies, or photoshop the bag's size ?
Ps: @papertiger yours has a very unusual pattern, well done !
The Gucci website sometimes lists the model’s height, but they are not usually as tall as you might expect and are of course very thin/small. I’m 5’11 and a US 4 or 6 and all bags look much smaller on me than on the models.

I received my new-to-me bag on Friday.
It is brand new and I'm proud I found it for half the price...
It is very similar with the Pochette Métis, which I'm now selling because tired of LV-bashing at work and unhappy with the quick loss of gold on the hardware. Hubby likes the Gucci more, and I often trust his classic taste.
Here are 100% real modeling pictures.
I'm 1,68 m (5'5") and wear 44 in clothes (UK 16)
As you can see, the crossbody is out of question, the bag looks like a necklace ! That might be only due to my large build, crossbodies rarely suit me.
I hope I could help.

Hi! I own this bag and don't wear it often because my hair gets caught in the buttons when I wear it crossbody, which is most of the time. Has anyone found a hack to prevent this, other than wearing hair in a bun? :)

Italist has this bag (the Gucci 1955 Horsebit Shoulder Bag in black) brand new for $2,300. That's $1,100 off retail price, which is $3,400 + additional tax. Has anyone bought from Italist before? Is it legit? And is this type of deal rare? I have seen the bag pop up a few times on Italist over the last few months - they usually have one of these bags for sale at a time, then it's purchased and a new one appears - and I can't tell if that's sketchy or not. Thanks in advance!

I attach a Fendi strap that is brown and black and let the other strap just hang. I don't wear it often as I love the look of it, but it's so structured, I have to pare down what I usually take.

I want a Gucci Horsebit bag but I’m stuck in which one I should buy. I’m considering the small shoulder camera bag and the small Gucci horsebit. It seems the small camera bag may actually hold more and I want this as a run around crossbody. But I cannot deny how lovely the traditional horsebit bag looks. I would love to hear thoughts from anyone who has either bag. IMG_7630.jpegIMG_7631.jpeg

I don’t have either but I think the traditional style with that flap is much more attractive. The other looks to me like they slapped the horse bit hardware where it didn’t belong. That said, I seem to make decision on form over function- probably- too often 😂

I agree with the aesthetics that @heatherB mentioned above. The traditional one looks better in my opinion.

I have the traditional one, and even though I love how it looks, I personally don't find myself reaching for it a lot because:

1. It doesn't lay on my body in the most comfortable way. It's quite rigid, and the combination of the shape along with the strap length on my 5'2" height makes it feel like I'm wearing a box on my hip. The camera bag looks like it would be softer, and lay better.
I usually prefer to wear small crossbody bags (Celine Teen Triomphe, Chanel Square Mini) or "larger" soft hobo bags (really loving the Madewell Essential Curve Suede Shoulder Bag this season) because they feel more comfortable.

2. I have the hair pulling issue that others have experienced. If you're not familiar, there is a button the on strap that is exposed when you wear the strap crossbody, and my long hair often gets caught in it. I now only wear this purse if my hair is in a bun or ponytail.

That being said, I still love how it looks. I considered parting with it earlier this year, but I just couldn't.

This is very helpful. I’m actually 5’2” and the reason I like the camera style is because it seems to lay better on my frame. I do like that the larger size is more versatile but the smaller camera bag actually probably fits more. I want this as a good crossbody or vacation bag. Thank you for your thoughts

I have the medium flap and I love it. I can't speak on wearing it crossbody because its a shoulder bag. I've seen the small worn crossbody with the other strap and its super cute.

Bag is so stylish to me.1734335734042.png

The camera bag is cute too but on a different vibe. I do prefer this one with the smaller oval shaped leather piece.1734337051427.png

I think the cam bag will work well for vacations. I always pack one when I go.
