Hi all dear members,

So the story is , I just bought my second Lady dior bag , the new small size my lady dior in red lambskin GHW ( I already have a white lambskin mini Lady dior chain strap SHW ) on 12/10/2016 in Melbourne Australia, but its has a few problems that I can't accept so I took it back to the store a few days later, luckily they offer me either an exchange or an one year credit note, now I have a delima whether should I get the same bag again or choose other bags.

Because the reason I return the current one is that it has a few scratches already even I haven't start using it. The red lambskin shows the scratches quite obviously and I'm so worried it might be worst to have a ticker shoulder strap in lambskin leather !! And so I'm still not sure I like the thicker strap look on my body when cross body, is true the pins are super cute, but I feel that is really thick for a strap and it appeal less classy to me , and I'm 35 now not sure it will be too cute for me in very near future>.<

I have a few other bags in my mind if I decided to exchange to another design. Initial I choose this one because I have been looking for a red colour bag, and I thought because it's a pop of colour I only need one red bag in my entire collection. I need it to be timeless , durable and versatile. Meantime some silver bags caught my eyes because I don't owns any but than is a little out of my comfort zone...and now I'm even more undecidesive[emoji23]

These are my consideration,

Options for red:

1. Red lambskin small lady dior (the one I bought)

2. Red grained calfskin diorama medium

Or

Options for silver:

1. Silver calfskin small lady dior

2. Silver micro carnage diorama silver medium

I wear my bags out mostly for shopping, I love crossbody bag.

My style is quite casual , lots of black and white in my wardrobe.

I prefer easy matching and maintain bags, something hold its value, classic. I don't want a bag to be too trendy that only will last for a season, hence I worry for a silver bag.

So I'm curious if you were me which one will you choose and why? And if is were you , which one will you bring home?

I just want to enjoy my bag and being not regret but I got no one to talk to so dear members here , your advice is what I can count for, please help me choose[emoji8] thank you thank you thank you!!!! Xx

Oh~ and so sorry for the extreme long story and ramble [emoji51][emoji28] and please excuse my poor English...[emoji38]

The blue is stunning, thanks for the comparison pics!
Wanted the mini initially because it's such a cute size (was deciding between that and the Chanel mini) but the small size seems so much more practical. Not digging the badges at all though, wish they did a plain strap.
You can get the strap without the pins, price for the plain strap is somewhat cheaper according to previous posts in this thread

Hands down red diorama or medium LD rouge Vif,the new size don't appeal to me at all simply because of the thick strap . Dior don't sell straps separate, you must have the bag itself in order to buy its spare parts.
I'm like you, I need another red bag in my life but can't decide.

Personally, I love the silver micro-cannage pattern, and I love silver as a colour (I have a silver Panarea) and although it was a winter collection colour in 2011, I love using it as a statement piece with my everyday wardrobe.

In your case though, if silver is out of your comfort zone, I would suggest sticking with the red. Looking at the outfit photos you posted, I love how the small Lady Dior with the badges looks with your outfits! Especially paired with the red dress [emoji7] [emoji7] [emoji7] the thicker strap will also be more comfortable than a thin strap, especially if you tend to carry quite a bit in your bags (like me).

I don't think the badges will look too cute at all over time at all, I think Dior has chosen the badges well to make sure they allowed the customer the chance to personalise their bags while keeping to the Dior aesthetic by using signature designs from the House of Dior. It really gives the bag a personality and it's unique to the owner because the badges each person chooses (and how it's ordered) will be different. I can see it as a classic bag over the years that won't go out of trend.

I'm not too sure about the size for me (I'm 5'5" and tend to prefer small bags like the mini Lady Dior) but I can definitely see myself getting a bag with the badges if this was available for other sizes (I'm 31). If you're still worried about the badges not being your style, it's a little too wide for my liking, but the red Diorama (as @smudleybear suggested) will be timeless as well.

Thanks so much for the input smudleybear!! I agree with you on the thicker strap , if only they can be thinner and in calf leather will be perfect! Guess you can't get everything you want. I actually tried the red calfskin diorama months ago when I saw it on the display mannequin, they have a raspberry pinkish red in small and a true red medium, both are calf leather. From the bag itself I like the true red medium more, so much roomier, but when I tried both of them on, the small size looks better on me simply because is a pop of colour, the medium looks bit boxy crossbody , I'm 5'4, so end up I didn't buy any of them...but now seems like I need to reconsider again...do you think the diorama design will be dated soon?

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts michi_chi !! I was totally swoon by the badge at the start that I forgot about how wide is the strap, it look good on my red dress I guess because it doesn't shows the contrast [emoji13] My heart trying to convince myself to keep it but my brain keep reminding me I don't like the wide strap[emoji30] same thing happen on the silver micro-cannage, I IMG_1476778854.226601.jpgcannot agree more on your point that silver being a statement piece for our wardrobe ! I love the edgy feel of it and it's so special, it's an icon diorama to me, is like I think of diorama this bag pop up immediately on my mind, but I read a lot of horror story about this bag here , I seriously will be so depressed if I found out I spend so much money on a bag that starting to peel in only a few months!!

This is the pic I took in the boutique , is my first time looking it up close , it's so stunning ! The interior is lambskin so the price is $400 more than the usual one and it's abit heavier too.

On the contrary, if they were the same colour, it'll be too much, but the bag is a different shade of red from the dress which makes it a perfect complimentary match! I absolutely love love love the micro-cannage Diorama! I really wanted to buy the micro-cannage short wallet from their online store (we don't have any Dior boutiques here in Scotland) but it's no longer available

I might be a bit ignorant, but which threads did you read stories about issues with the Diorama? or is it with the perforated micro-cannage pattern? I couldn't find anything when I tried searching for it :confused1: I must say, I would be very surprised if customers have had issues with their bags, I've bought various Dior bags from different collections over the years and I've never had an issue with the colour flaking or peeling. I just recently purchased a Miss Dior short wallet in ceramic effect deerskin and @averagejoe has pointed out in another thread the plates don't lift over time as the python scales do, so I am fully confident in the quality of Dior bags and that as long as it's looked after (that it's not scratched against rough surfaces like tarmac or concrete walls, it's stored with the paper padding and in its dustbag when not in use etc), it will last a long time.

I had a quick read through various threads on the Diorama and it seems like it's a good investment buy. Personally I love the cannage stitching, it's become a synonymous pattern with Dior bags and I love the variation in size: the big cannage stitch is still recognisable but simple, and the micro-cannage adds dimension to the bag. I've also read messages from other threads where other Diorama owners mentioned how light the chain was (which was one of my worries about such a thick chain) to balance the weight of the bag. Carrying a heavy bag isn't something that sits well with me and I've ended up reselling designer bags for this reason, but it seems to me the design has been given serious thought for practical as well as aesthetic reasons which a lot of premier designers don't do unfortunately.

I've had my silver Panarea for 5 years now and for about a year, I was using it daily and there have been no issues with the silver colour coming off. If it would help, I can send you a photo of my Panarea as it is now to give you an idea of how it keeps over time?

I'm a firm believer in buying the one that speaks to you. If you're having second thoughts about the red Lady Dior, I would recommend wearing your favourite outfit to the boutique and bring your red Lady Dior with you, and try on all the bags that catch your eye. Now that you've had time to think about the choices you have, the one you can't take your eye off of will eventually lead you to the perfect bag.

Do let us know how you get on!

These are my consideration,

Options for red:

1. Red lambskin small lady dior (the one I bought)

2. Red grained calfskin diorama medium

Or

Options for silver:

1. Silver calfskin small lady dior

2. Silver micro carnage diorama silver medium

I really like the new LD size, as I always thought the mini is too small and the medium is a bit too big for my liking! I really like how u pair it with the red dress and I think it looks wonderful. Although I think ur gripe is mainly with the thick straps ( which again I enjoy, I find it more comfortable lol ), the diorama will in red be the next best bet! The red is gorgeous and really just pop!

I still think ur first choice of LD is the best though! Best of luck

This is a question I keep asking myself? Will DIOR keep the DIORAMA? It's their biggest competitor with Chanel boy bag at a much more affordable price point with beautiful chain. I appreciate the construction of the bag and the red caviar leather, thought wished it's leather lined. The red remains in my heart. However I'm starting to loose a bit faith with DIOR. Two years back when I ventured into DIOR and begin to be an addict, SAs told me that MISS DIOR is their classic, then shockingly it was discontinued and then DIOR promoted the BEDIOR bag so much and all SAs confidently said it will remain their classic ( I don't blame them). Now I've checked and it will be discontinued sadly. Such a beautiful top handle bag. So now it's the DIORAMA's turn they claim it will be their classic. Even though I choose to believe half what they said ((DIOR), it's a shape that I don't think will date as long as the Chanel boy stays alive. Square, rectangular, trapezoid bags will always be in the market. Not sure of cylinders though. Also the chain on DIORAMA is gorgeous. If you don't mind the badge logo then it doesn't matter. The bag is priced at £2500, if the colour, functionality and leather plus hardware choice can serve you through 2-3 years I think it worth the money. It's a beautifully made bag that I think no one dares to say it look dated even if DIOR discontinued it. For instance , even a birkin style is classic but it looks ugly if the bag is really worn out or beaten up in 2-3 years time.
Looks like I've just talked myself into getting the red grained Diorama too. Bottom lined, get that SEXY bag!!!IMG_1476783117.359403.jpg I can't stop staring at it either[emoji7][emoji7][emoji7]

I can see you are a Dior lover, feel so great to have you giving me advice as I'm new to Dior[emoji5] I would love to see your silver panarea, it would give me a peace of mind for sure! And I will definitely head in the store again wearing my usual outfit to try them on again! Thank you so much for the idea!

Below are one of the thread regarding the the issue of the perforated metallic micro cannage bag. Being such a lovely bag, if this gonna happen sooner or later, I don't think I have the guts of buying it[emoji20]feel so sad about her having issue with the bag.

I already having sleepless night thinking about which option to go and that's why I seek you guys help here, as no one in my family love and appreciate the value of luxury designer goods. Now dig deeper in my heart I think I'm more towards Diorama. Despite the badges Lady dior being so popular and limited, if it's doesn't work for my style it's not mean for me, but my SA keep telling me it's a pity if I decided to let it go.

Will definitely update here how it's goes[emoji8]
