NEVER using Fashionphile again

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

So, paypal denied my claim because Fashionphile has a tracking number that shows it was delivered. My only option now is to try to call the number on the back of my debit card. I am so tired of this, that I may just think of it as a $211 lesson learned. One thing is certain though, I will NEVER purchase from Fashionphile again.
That’s disappointing to read … and scary. Does that mean a driver can sign for the recipient w/o their knowledge, and if the parcel was never delivered, the recipient has no rights when they use PayPal?:wtf:

May I ask how you got burned by Saks?

I have a separate post where I vented about it, but basically Saks sent me an empty box when I ordered a Judith Leiber item. It was a Judith Leiber rhinestone encrusted pillbox. I was on the phone with Saks' customer service several times before they decided that they had fulfilled the order and were not going to refund the purchase price or send me the item. Luckily, it looks like my credit card company is going refund the money.
I think the takeaway is be careful when you are ordering small luxury goods because it is too easy for them to disappear during the shipping process. You may get an empty box like I did.

I'm glad to hear that your credit card company is stepping up to the plate & reimbursing you.
Its obvious that SAKS has an internal shipping issue & this is common but their are
security tapes in shipping.. SAKS just gave you the bums rush & sorry..

I don’t understand it’s pretty straight forward, if you say that you were home and there was no delivery, then why not go to the hub?
All UPS trucks have GPS tracking they would be able to tell you if the driver was at your home. I’m sorry but you are blaming FP for your mistake ie: no signature. The burden of proof is on you and the first thing to prove was/was not the UPS driver at your home. If it was proven that he was the package would have been scanned at delivery.
I hope you have a positive outcome.

I live in Dallas, there is no telling where the package came from it could be any number of places. Fashionphile won't allow UPS to release any information to me. All they will say is a script that says that they are not responsible. Fashionphile has an agreement with UPS, they have less expensive tracking and in return they don't release any information to allow you to find what hub your package originated from, or anything to ask UPS to help locate. In fact, UPS stonewalls as well when you call and directs you to contact the shipper. Paypal was uninterested in my security footage, a friend who has worked at the shipper said that a driver can scan a package and say it was delivered. It doesn't have to be at your address. I have to assume that it was probably stolen through someone at UPS, and the more people I talk to, this isn't that unusual. The thing that makes it different is the attitude of Fashionphile.
I understand my money is gone, I just want this to not happen to anyone else. IF you can, make certain that the package requires a signature. When checking out quickly it's easy to not make certain the boxes are all checked. At least this gives a little protection. The police detective I spoke with says this is a well known scam. Delivery drivers scanning a package to say delivered, or seeing the shippers address and taking the item out of the box. With the rise of "porch pirates" more companies are trying to deny claims of misdelivered or missing items.

I, too, have heard the scan scam stories from a friend whose sister is a detective.

I‘d like to add- (In sweats and runners, and carrying a plain nylon crossbody bag) I brought a FP return to UPS for shipping. The woman I handed the prepaid parcel to said, “Oooo! This is going to that place that sells all those expensive purses. Is that what’s in here?” My heart stopped and my teenage daughter who was with me thought the comment and question were strange. I said, “Yeah, I saw on their website they sell those there, too,” though unbeknownst to the clerk, I was returning a Chanel. Thank goodness parcel contents aren’t marked on the box label. I’m sure the clerk was just making conversation and my imagination overtook my rational thinking, but I caught my breath when she made her comment.

In my opinion, what this comes down to is FP providing an extra layer of customer protection (even if it’s for an optional small shipping fee), or they’ll start losing some customers and/or get bad reviews.

I recently bought a Bolide from FP and I'm in Europe. It's the second time I buy from them: I have the goods sent to my son who lives in NYC and he brings them over when he comes. I was pretty nervous about the bag as the delivery was delayed. In the end it arrived, thank goodness, but you've given me food for thought! I hope you manage to solve your issue!

That sounds really terrible and dodgy. Do you have a government entity that can help you?

I’m in Sydney, Australia and we have NSW Fair Trading where you can lodge disputes with retailers/service providers and they will resolve matters on your behalf. They try to protect consumers etc

To be perfectly clear, this is my fault, I accept that I am responsible for not making certain that the box was checked to require a signature. I was in a hurry to leave, and I should have waited until I returned to properly look at the checkout process. That is my $211 mistake. The part that I find strange is that fashionphile has an agreement with UPS and they will not allow me the information to trace the package. What I am trying to say, and I guess not too clearly, is warn others, apparently according to the DPS this is an ongoing scam, so there is a higher level of protection with a signature. After speaking with the Dallas Police Detective, with so many porch pirates, more companies are being difficult with stolen items. I am frustrated by Fashionphile not being cooperative and trying to help me locate my package, that is why I wouldn't purchase from them again. To answer Parisluxury, if there is a government entity that could help, I am unaware of it. Even though I have proof with a video camera that no UPS driver came to my home, it is not enough.
From now on, when it is possible, even though it's a pain, I will have items shipped to a store. That way you are able to open them there in front of a witness and make certain everything is where it should be. I sincerely hope that my story will be of help to someone else. I appreciate everyone's responses, and sharing their stories.

I’m not sure requiring a signature would have helped. I had a recent purchase from Hermes.com shipped to my home signature required. I was home all day. Doorbell never rang. But I saw an email later that day confirming my package had been delivered. I initially could not find the package so I asked fed ex who signed for the package. They looked it up and said I signed for it. So the fed ex driver just ticked it off as signed for when he faked my signature. I fortunately found the package a day later jammed behind a bush beside my front gate.

Yesterday, I read that UPS is planning on hiring an additional 100,000 new drivers in an attempt to increase its presence in the holiday delivery market. How can they effectively vet and train that many new employees at that rate?

I wouldn't be so fast to blame yourself. If you were in a hurry you might not have noticed if the check box was even availble. The reason I say that is I saw your message right after placing an order through Fashionphile for a twilly myself. I was worried that I had done the same thing, failed to check that box. I also saw a scarf that I wanted and later placed an order for it. This time I was very careful to look at the screen. There was not an box for "signature required". I wonder if they have eliminated that option? The scarf was over $500 so I was surprised. Thankfully both my items arrived today so it wasn't a problem. I am afraid even if I had selected that option it would not have mattered. My UPS and FexEx drivers still both fail to make me sign for signature required packages. I wish you luck in some sort of resolution.

I am honestly surprised that FP wouldn't extend any type of "make good" gesture over $211 which is a miniscule amount compared to many items they sell. That is a very, very small price to pay to keep a customer - regardless of who is "at fault" here.

As an aside, I'm not sure who you use for your security system, but we use ADT which notoriously captures video on a hit-or-miss basis. Sometimes our many cameras capture and record as they are set to do, sometimes they do not. I am particularly angry about this as we had a pack of javelina porch-pirate all of our pumpkins a week or so ago, and I would have wanted to see this! This was one of the "miss" instances with ADT.

This happens to me ALL the time! The drivers just sign illegibly or just check off as signed. BUT the sellers always take responsibility.

I agree with most everyone that FP refusing to even address a $211 issue is silly and will cost them more than that in bad PR. Personally I haven't bought from them in my memory, but now I'm unlikely to touch them with a 10 foot pole.
