Hello scarfies - I will respond to everyone in the next day or so but for now, you MUST MUST MUST watch this animated video of the scarf I purchased Les Bains d'Hermes by Xavier Ramonède and Ugo Gattoni. It's in another colorway for the video but it's just as stunning. First click on the word "Vimeo" so it opens up in that website. Then after you are taken to vimeo, look in the lower right hand corner for a screen expansion icon. Make sure to click on that little expansion icon to see the full detail. The video should now expand to fit your entire screen so you can see all the details. You will be entertained for awhile I promise.

Omg, that was adorable! I watched it at a couple dozen times, wishing it played longer.

Here you go. Haha... I am still debating. Whenever I look at it, my heart sings. If that can be counted into MYH's scarf challenge process. :girlsigh:
Mimi - I really love it on you. I think just the right amount of yellow and burgundy pops out of it when tied. I vote for keeping it and it makes your heart sing.

Me too!! I just kept hitting the replay button.

Would love to be able to make that my screen saver!
That would be fabulous! I just don't know how to do it. So glad you liked the animation video.

Hello scarfies!! I have something exciting to share with all of you!! I have a new scarf. I think it's a holy grail for some so it's even more exciting. Plus it's insanely gorgeous so I thought I would share. I have a great friend. She is the H angel that gave me my Voyages en Etoffes scarf. She has the best collection but is so humble about it that most of you do not even know her here. She lurks a bit and just enjoys reading the threads. So I'm at her house the other week talking to her in the kitchen and she tells me there is a big pile of scarves on her dining room table she has decided do not work for her. That's basically like telling a pirate there is a treasure chest full of loot in the next room.

So with as much composure as a scarf addict can maintain, I walk (ok, maybe I sprinted) over to her dining room and start looking through them. I stop DEAD in my tracks when I see this scarf in pristine condition. I ask her....Is this a mistake? Why is this scarf in this discard pile? I think you had better let it rejoin the rest of your collection. And she says, no it's too bright for me. It just doesn't work. Well, you know the rest of the story.

We actually have a deal. We have an informal lending library. If either of us sees something in each other's scarf collection that we like, we can take it home and see if it works with our wardrobe. If the scarf is up for grabs, it gets adopted. If not, both of us start looking for it on the resell market for the other person. I wish all of you could have this setup. It's so amazing. She has borrowed a scarf from me that she thought she loved but after trying it on at home, realized it doesn't work for her wardrobe and complexion. And I have done the same. It saves us from making scarf buying mistakes. So I took it home and fell in love.

OK, I will end the suspense. It's Fleurs d'Indiennes in the aqua cw. I already have the one in the brown cw so I am so happy to have two now!! So the trouble with this scarf is I literally have nothing that goes with it except a white shirt. So what does a scarf addict do? She goes out to find new tops to match this scarf. Yes, that is how a crazy scarf addict thinks when they find a scarf they absolutely adore. No problem! Just go out and buy tops to match it. I know I'm not alone on this!!

The problem is...this scarf is a chameleon. Sometimes I think a aqua blue would be perfect. But then I think maybe fuchsia? But that's kind of bright for me. And the two different biases really bring out different colors. So I put my shopping shoes on today and ventured out into the great wide world. Since it's a summery cw scarf, I decided to look for T-shirts. I wandered into my old standby, Vince, and they had this army green shirt. Sitting on the shelf, it's hideous. But strangely when I tried it on, it's actually ok! And there's quite a bit of that army/khaki green in the scarf so it's rather unexpected they coordinate well together. I also think the army green shirt tones down the brightness of the scarf a bit too.

So here is the scarf with my army green T-Shirt and white shirt. And just for giggles, I tried it in combination with my brown Fleurs d'Indiennes to make a larger 140 silk and they look good together! I took two pics of them worn together (as seen in the photos I'm wearing a white top).

And luckily, this scarf already matches my orange pico, tosca evelyne, Gris T evelyne and kelly, and gold kelly. Whew!! I do not need to be chasing turquoise or blue paon bags. Thank goodness.

I hope you enjoyed my story and the following pics.

I love how you matched it with your bright orange bag and your gold K. Makes me so excited for spring. What a lovely scarf relationship you have with this special friend.

That fuchsia hem is TDF. What a wonderful friend you have! I have a friend who has loaned me scarves, just to get the lust out of my system. It worked! But this new Fleurs is a real keeper for you! Just keep buying t-shirts, LOL!

MYH - thanks so much for sharing! I read the entire thread over the last few days and you and PbP have definitely enabled a Cheval Phoenix purchase! Your expert scarf tying has also inspired me to branch out of my fold and just let lay rut! Can't wait to see what's next!

I even did not notice your army green tshirt. The scarf itself is just gorgeous enough for me to ignore anything else. And I went back to look at it after reading, (sorry always check out pic first), the color is just so harmony with each other.
Wish I can dive into that silk pile and join in your lending system!

Lucky you to have such a great friend! COngrats on your new scarf!

Remember MYH's New year challenge about scarf wearing?
WARNING: I am a retired hi-tech worker, and a bit nerdy.
I have been tracking my scarf wearing since August 1. I thought I would give a 7 month update of what I found so far.
Aug-sep-oct were warm months, Nov-Dec-Jan-Feb were cool to cold months.
rather than bore you with all the details, I decided to tally how many times I wore a scarf from each category ( such as 90 cm) compared to how many scarves I own in that category.

Times worn, Num available, category
39 40 90carre
21 9 70carre
27 3. CSGM
11. 5 Mousseline stole
5. 3 MaxiTwilly
12. 12. NonH scarves

What have I learned?
I probably don't need any more 90s, but I expect to succumb to a few more. The colors and availability of designs in the 90 format is always the best. The most frequently worn ones were my Noel and Neige d'antan - I wore these a lot in Dec! Obviously many 90 scarves were not worn at all or worn only once.

I never wore any of my GM mousselines during this time( not included in the table).
During the warmer months, I favored the mousseline stoles and the 70s. Although I did still wear a CSGM a few times.
The last time I wore a mousseline was November.

Maybe I need more CSGM? I wore a CSGM. 27 times, but I only own 3! All were worn.

My best- used formats in terms of average times worn per available supply were: CSGM, moussie stole, and 70.
I did wear a 90 on more days than any other format, but I have more of them too!

I own some nonH scarves which I still wear.

MYHS suggestion of any scarf not worn at least 5 times going on the chopping block will be a BIG problem for me!
Looking forward to continuing this exercise as the weather changes.

Thank you for this detailed scarf reporting!! It really helps me benchmark how often other people are wearing their silks. But please ignore my suggestion of rehoming any scarves that don't get worn at least 5 times. Now that I think of it, I think maybe 3 times would be the right number.

I agree with your analysis for the 90s. In the next 4 months (to complete one research year), maybe rehome the 90s that don't get worn at all. And then only add this format if it sings to you.

For the 70s. Looks like you are on track!!

CSGMs - buy more!! You have data that backs this up. It's hard to argue with.

Mousseline Stoles - now that we're coming up to summer, I suspect you will get even more use out of them. Add a few more to fill in color gaps and of course the ones that sing to you.

MaxiTwillies - no more. Funny, I have two and I never wear them! I will try to remedy that this summer

Non H scarves - Don't think you need to buy anymore of these either.

140cm mousselines - Send them to me!! :coolio:I will bring down cost per wear.
