Bumping this thread for a couple reasons: 1) does Cartier still do discounts bc this is the first I'd heard of it outside AD and 2) I had a negative experience as well recently. I visited a boutique nearby recently for the first time. When I was in the store all the sa's were helping customers. When it came to be my turn a couple (woman and man) after me said they were next. I politely informed them I was actually (and in fact they saw me standing in the store when they first walked in!) The woman said no we were actually next (big fat lie - wow).
The SA then (and I'm absolutely serious) looked me up and down and then told me that the couple was next.
Let me say this: I have never had this ever happen to me in a store and it was not the first time I had ever visited a Cartier boutique. I was also not dressed like a slob. I was wearing a high end designer coat and bag and clean, presentable pants and shoes. Another client standing nearby who must have known that I was actually next just shook her head. I am not one to make a scene nor am I one to stay when I'm treated so poorly so I left.
Given what happened I'm certain there are just two reasons why this sa decided to do this (and I felt humiliated because it was in front of several other customers) - one possibly being that she would more likely get a commission from a couple who walked in versus a woman who walked in alone. I have heard for example at a certain high end boutique you're more likely to get a coveted item if you walk in with your SO rather than by yourself.
Have any of you experienced something like this? I am so steamed. I had recently made a purchase at Cartier and was looking to buy something else and now whenever I look down at my love it just remind me of that bad experience. Perhaps that feeling will dissipate over time as what happened was recent and the feelings are still raw. And I believe I do have a right to be upset at Cartier because when I yelped and googled this store I saw others complain similar experiences!!
