During quarantine, the US land border was closed and I really wanted a pair of UGG boots for the winter. I got impatient around October and bought them overpriced at one of our department stores here in Mexico, at around $230 USD, the short classic version. To my dismay, the border opened one month later and the winter wasn’t even that cold, so I only wore them once lol. They are pretty though. :)

£3000 plus VAT for bespoke John Lobb boots (2 pairs, 1 black, 1 navy), many years ago.(each).
(2012)
I walked many miles and wore both out but they have my last and can recreate them.

John Lobb of St James , not the Hermes rtw which I’ve also bought in Paris..

Oh I just saw this. I guess DH's Lobbs are some of his most expensive bespoke shoes/ boots as well. They certainly took the longest time to complete. St James as well, not the Lobb stores owned by Hermes.

Only the first pair are very, very expensive. CPW they're really cost effective (OK relatively) as they can resole/re heel, repair practically 'forever'. Plus, if your lasts are already made you pay a lot less for new pairs.

You can get MTO, which actually, if you have average feet, is a great option for a good shoe.

Yes true, but he prefers to wear Pret a Porter, mostly English cut shoes or bespoke. I think the quote for first pair at Lobb were the highest because they were boots. Lovely to see the other lasts in the basement and know that his are now there as well. :-)

They don’t do MTO in St James, only bespoke..
Only the Hermes owned company, which are a separate company(I used to wear their ladies’ shoes)..plus despite being 40kg and about a sz 35 I’m very heavy on my footwear and actually DO wear them out..my longest lasting footwear were a bespoke pair of Gaziano and Girling Oxfords which lasted 11 years..the CPW of those was very good, but I wore out both pair of Lobbs-I started paying for a crocodile pair but if I’d worn out those I’d have been quite upset..

I’ve had several pairs of G and Gs, only one pair left atm..I’ll get another pair made later this year or next year-they do MTO or full bespoke , and their shoes last far longer , although the experience at Lobb is wonderful -both the Lobb family And Tony G and Dean G are great to work with..

In Paris I lived next to Aubercy..another great shoemaker..
