The women in my area carry Michael Kors, Kate Spade, and a few Coaches. Louis Vuitton and Chanel are very popular at the Pure Barre studio where I work out most mornings. Some of the LV's are fake (the fakescareccarried mostly by women in their 20's), All of the Chanel bags I have seen are real, and as the poster up thread stated, they are older; 50's and 60's.
I read over my post, and feel the need to apologize, as in truth I have no idea whether the bags these young women are real or not. This was an ageist and rude remark, and I apologize.

I live in a very rural area in southern Ohio. The area is a poorer area. The closest mall is 2 hours away and the only place to shop here is Wal-Mart. The main moneymaker here is healthcare in which I work and am fortunate to do so. There is a high rate of unemployment here.

That being said those who carry contemporary designers are considered to have a lot of money. I see Michael Kors, Coach, Kate Spade. I have seen a few fake LVs. I am the only one I know or have seen to carry Chanel or Hermes, although I saw someone carry a fake Hermes yesterday.

I have received many compliments on my bags but also many disparaging remarks. You are sort of looked down on here for carrying very expensive bags, which makes me sad. I have quite a few contemporary designers and will carry then when I feel like "hiding". My own family is upset that I would spend so much on handbags. It is difficult and I often hide my purchases (all made online).

I too live in a very rural area in Eastern KY. Actually the tri-state area which includes Southern Ohio. While I'm closer to a mall, they don't have anything high end. I just bought my first Louis Vuitton and it's only a Mini Pochette. I can only imagine that most will think it's fake, but I didn't buy it for them. I bought it for me. (That's what my Mom keeps reminding me to tell myself, haha!) I *do* mainly carry Kate Spade, however. I see a lot of Michael Kors and Coach (signature). Lots of fake LVs. I am saving for a luxury designer bag. Please don't hide your purchases! If I saw something that I knew was real, I'd be more starry eyed than repulsed! It's probably a form of jealousy on their part.

I can't remember if I posted in thread already, but may have done so when I lived in South Florida.

Anyhow, I live in New York City, and Micheal Kors and Kate Spade are pretty ubiquitous, but they are mostly outlet styles. But to be fair, I see the entire price-point range and brands in any given day.

I've since moved so now it's changed. Michael Kors seems to rule the roost. The mall boutique is packed. The outlet boutique is packed.

The Coach store or outlet...not so much.

I'm a little out of place carrying my Zac Posen and Marc Jacobs.

Hi, I'm in Lexington. More high end designer bags around here but not a ton...mostly monogram LV and monogram Gucci. I would save up your money for a classic piece and not a trendy pice. And if you are interested in Gucci, don't forget that there is an outlet right outside Louisville. You can sometimes find a very good deal there on a bag. They usually have some SLGs for good prices too.
