Quite a few people seem to have expectations about the printing that are based on I don't know what, but not on how LV products look in real life. It leads to disappointment that is misplaced--often.
I have many damier ebene prints and even my older cles from 2011 print is still great. This was a brand new piece and the L was so faint compared to the rest of the letters on the same bag. It made it almost look fake. I would take a photo but I have already sent back the bag. I mean I know not every piece is going to be perfect but when a brand new piece looks worse then my almost 9 year piece there’s no reason to keep it

And then found a limited edition piece in FABULOUS condition so I thought I’d compare. The chains are so diffrent in quality it’s crazy! The new chain is light, and it “tangles” as you can see in the photo. Like it doesn’t lay right when you grab it. Also the canvas is thicker in the older model. You can’t see it but you can feel it.

Does anyone know when they changed the chains on the mini pochette? what year? Also will LV repair the "made in" vachetta on the mini pochette? if so about how much does that cost? I also noticed that the hardware for example the zipper pull and the little hoops that attach the chain to the pochette itself on both sides are tarnished and no longer gold. Has anyone ever had those replaced? The chain and zipper are still in great condition and i would like to keep the original chain as it is the older style chain. any thoughts?

What year is the older one?

Here's my two centsView attachment 4322100
The top chain is on the mini pochette I recently purchased in Dec 2018 but has a date code from April 2018. The bottom chain is a friends older mini pochette that she purchased in 2013. Her chain links are not only smaller but her chain is heavier than mine. I even asked DH if there was a difference without mentioning the debate in this thread and he also said that her chain was "thicker and weightier" than mine.

I agree the chain is lighter and the links are smaller but the length is the same and the size of the Pochette is the same.
I wouldn’t consider this a quality issue - materials change over time and it still serves the same purpose - just a little pouch to put my small items in.

I’d like to know when chains were changed as well! Hopefully someone knows! :flowers:

Good morning, I was wondering if anyone here knows when exactly mini pochette’s chain changed. I was watching a few YouTube videos comparing 2012 vs 2016, and 2014 vs 2018 chains. It seems there was a change in spring/fall 2018 for sure (which is the current lighter chains). But it seems there a change to the chains prior to 2018 as well? Thanks in advance for the help!:heart:

Hello everyone!

This is my comparison of two Mini Pochettes that I purchased pre-loved from Brand City in Japan in early January of 2020. The monogram MP is date coded 2005 while the damier ebene MP is date coded 2019.

Upon comparing them side by side I did notice the difference in:
The chains - Mono MP 2005 chain felt slightly heavier, the links were closer/smaller and the length of the chain was shorter than the DE MP 2019.
The canvas - Mono MP 2005 canvas felt somewhat harder/more durable? Whereas the DE MP 2019 felt softer and slightly flimsy
The size - MONO MP 2005 appeared and felt slightly smaller than the DE MP 2019

Considering the age of the Mono MP, I was extremely surprised by how well the canvas, vachetta/patina tab, and hardware held up (please refer to the picture I attached of the Mono MP against my key pouch (date coded 2020). I really do prefer the old chain over the newer chain as well. When worn as a wristlet, because the older chain is shorter it just sat a lot more comfortably on my wrist and didn't slip off my wrist as much as the newer chain did.

I have 2 mini's. I kept mine despite not loving the thin canvas. I am not thrilled with them because of this issue, but I sill enjoy wearing them. At the time (maybe 5 years ago) there were many to choose from in the store. All of them were made from very thin canvas.

UPDATE!

After selling my pre-loved Mini Pochette, I was able to get my hands on a brand new one fresh from the boutique (through an order).

I was a little nervous because I was expecting the chain to be very thin, light and loosely linked however to my surprise... The chain isn't that bad. The very last image attached is my old and sold 2005 model.
