Hello!
I am still hunting a mini square and originally wanted it in caviar (which i know they no longer make ).
My understanding was always that caviar is much more durable than lambskin. However, I was watching a review on You Tube and the girl said that her SA said that caviar will not last, at point it will peel. Maybe in about 10 years. Whereas the lambskin will last and you will be able to pass it on to your kids.
Does anyone know if that is true?
Thanks in advance!
What? That’s not true. I have a vintage caviar classic flap bag from 1997, it looks brand new and there is no peeling along the corners. Both leathers should be able to stand the rest of time if you take care of hor bags.

I had the exact question when I wanted to buy my first mini. I can tell you lambskin isn't as delicate as I thought! I have been using mine for nearly 2 years and there are no obvious scratches or wear. Regarding the caviar, yes, it does seem a lot more durable. If you run a search here you will see threads about caviar peeling, and in some seasons it looks a little plasticky... I assume vintage ones are a lot better in quality. I'm not here to dis caviar because I do have a Chanel in caviar that I love. But I just want to mention that lambskin isn't bad! I think it's super luxurious and it will last a long long time if you look after it well. You might like caviar because it's carefree but why wouldn't you look after a bag that costs so much right? :)

Hi ladies, is anyone able to advise if the width of the leather in the chain is normal in my mini?? The bag is perfect when I first inspected it without any of the common problems with quality. However when I wanted to adjust the strap length a few days later I realised that the strap feels flimsier than my other mini and the leather is feels softer?? I took out my other lambskin mini to compare and upon inspection realised that the leather width is narrow on my new mini, which is probably why the chain feels "flimsier" while the other one is stiffer and the leather is more tightly "hugged" by the chains. You can also see the slightly exposed "seam" of the strap though maybe it's just more obvious cos it's a light coloured bag. I'm worried that the leather will wear more easily and snap eventually!! :'( The bag is brand new from the boutique, not pre-loved, so I'm wondering if this is normal and acceptable and simply because leather varies from each batch. I have no other lambskin bags from Chanel to compare with. I've attached photos where you can compare the difference in straps. Please tell me my worries are unfounded, I would loathe to return the bag as it is SO incredibly hard to come by!! :(

Depending on when the stock comes and if the SA remembers you. I would say keep calling the client services. That's what I did for my mini. If you're looking for SHW they're actually pretty easily available. I'm in Sydney too and I see them everytime I come into the boutique LOL. GHW is hard tho and you need to really look for it.
Thank you! I don't really care about the colour of the hardware, any would do
the SA gave me her card with her mobile number, so I will follow up with her towards the end of the month

They look different to me, the black looks thicker. It's probably just leather from different years. Does the rest of the bag's leather have the same feeling as the strap leather? I'd focus more on the overall leather and if it's consistent rather than the strap.

Thank you for replying! The rest of the bag feels pretty sturdy. MY SA reserved it for me once it reached so it haven't been displayed and handled which could explain it's relative sturdiness compared to some lambskin display pieces. Hopefully it holds its shape well with each wear and is not as soft as the strap leather!

I have the same exact bag in a square mini and the strap is not like this. I feel like the strap leather is smaller and much softer on the classic medium.
Oh dear, that's not very reassuring. Are you going to exchange it? I don't think I would return mine, it's too lovely to pass up and no other available to exchange :( I will just use it with more care.

On another note, you must really love that colour to buy another bag in the same shade! :) Is it a red or orange?

No, I'm going to keep it. My mini is the square and I love the square shape. She sent me a pic of another classic that was in store and it was the exact same. It's a true red and I love it. It's the 20 B dark red. I'm trying to see if I can upload a pic.

Hi guys,

My local department store texted that they had a black mini rectangle, so I ordered it by mail and it arrived last week.

The label says 20B season so considering how quick these usually sell out, and it’s Jan 2021, I am guessing this was either a display model or a very late return item?!?!?!

Anyway I don’t mind as long as the item is in new condition but I noticed the following few issues and wasn’t sure if this bag was defective or whether this is normal.

1. the side of the bag is not straight and lines are wavy in some parts.

2.Depending on how I close the flap, either both corners of the bag stick out beyond the flap, or just the left corner sticks out. Shouldn't the flap cover the entire width of the bag or is it normal for the bag corners to protude like the chanel 19 bags?

This is my first mini so any advise/comments is greatly appreciated!

The pictures don't look so bad but it might be different in person. I totally understand as I sadly turned down a mini 21c due to its sides sticking out and general asymmetry. I was on the list for 4 months and was lucky to get the call but at the end I felt it was too much money to settle for something that would not bring me joy...

Lamb peels too. As with anything you just have to take care of both.
