It's a mystery. Isn't her agent the super powerful and influential Hylda Queally? Maybe it's a language barrier thing.

Although French actors often have a different way of working and a different working relationship with directors than English/American actors do perhaps she hasn't been able to gel with the directors she's worked with.

Are her English roles really that bad? I have nothing to compare them to. I've never watched any of her French films.

Well I think it's just that she's been really good in some of her French roles that the bar was set very high, her english roles just don't seem to give her much to play with.

Funny my boyfriend who is mad in awe with Fassbender gave an interesting observation, felt like sharing...

Boyfriend : well imo he is a bit of a player now that he got his new found fame. He probably sleeps with whoever he gets a chance with, with chick he may have not had a chance with if he were a regular Joe. Not that he isn't charming but he wouldn't do as much if he wasn't famous, and he said so. So I bet he is enjoying while he can because he spent the majority of his 20s trying to get to where he is now career wise, and it's not now that he will look to settle down.

Me : How do you know that?

Boyfriend: Chica, when did you hear/took notice of him first? In Murphy's Law? Really you did???

Me : I... Never mind go on...

Boyfriend : So yeah looks like he doesn't seem to want to settle down yet and is just hooking up with women without serious intentions, and hopefully he is honest about it. Not that he isn't a serious guy, as who knows but I think that now since his career is still hot, he's striking that iron while it's still hot hooking up wise.

Me : ...is it because you're Irish that you're insightful or another of your fellas or..?

Boyfriend : no... I just love the guy!

I do think her French movies are superior but it's not like she's totally bad in the English ones. I find her pretty good in Public Enemies and Inception. And even though I'm not a big musical movie fan I think she did a pretty good job in Nine. I'm glad she's back shooting more in Europe. Can't wait for Deux Jours, Une Nuit.
It's the same with Penélope Cruz. Her Spanish movies are better too. But at least they're good in one language. Not like Diane Kruger who speaks three languages and doesn't act well in any of them.

She lives in Hackney, but I'm not sure which part of it. Probably not the same as Michael, although who knows. At first glance she looks like a delicate and a little bit uppity celebrity but from some of her interviews and what people say she is actually not. Supposedly she and Michael were good drinking buddies during filming of A Dangerous Method. :D

She used to live right near me in Shoreditch back when she was dating Rupert, we used to go the same bio shop lol!.. and yeah she was hitting them locals pubs, not getting drunk per se but having good laughs and all with her mates and waving hi. She is pretty cool, although that pout couldn't help but stare at it sometimes :D

You live in London? Cool. I have seen the film 300 five times now and only just realized that Fassbender is in it.

I have to say I'm surprised too she's living in Hackney. I've seen her more as a Camden or Hampstead kinda girl. She comes across as this upper class girl with her pout who dates a musician to feel edgy.

Same. Well when she gained fame in me head I always thought she was living in W or NW code area. so when I kept bumping into her at Brick Lane and sa her coming from her then flat/loft/whatever one early winter morning, I realized we were neighbours, I was like WTF :D
