that statistic about the "academy" is not surprising at all. look at how many black films have been overlooked and dismissed over the years. the color purple was nominated for 11 awards and didn't take home one!

Bloody hell! Never knew that. That film is a classic. I suggest that they rejuvenate the academy ASAP. They need to either get more young members or kick out some of the old farts.

The academy is hypocrite then, no problem with the female nudity.

Of course not, those conservative pensioners would rather watch a film with lots of boobies than one with male nudity. Fassbender was c0ck blocked by jealous viagra-popping pensioners!

Question people:

Who will be watching the Oscars on Sunday and which of the nominated films are you supporting (for a lack of a better choice)?

“War Horse”
“The Artist”
“Midnight in Paris”
“Moneyball”
“The Descendants”
“The Tree of Life”
“The Help”
“Hugo”
“Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close”

I've read an article about how The Artist went from the underdog to the Rottweiler of the award season. I think that the aggressive award campaign has diminished some of the charm of this cute little film, but I'm still gonna go with The Artist or Midnight in Paris. I haven't seen Hugo yet and I wasn't impressed with the other films on the list. I won't be watching it though. I'm boycotting that ishhh!

There is definitely a lot or double standards about male nudity, because its a OLD MAN committee! ITA in the cock-blocking theory, am sure he might even be heralded more if his mail package had been smaller.:D

And I still think its icky what Clooney said at the GG's about Fassy's golf technique. On one hand, har de har har, typical blockey Clooney with his generous amusing shout out to Fassbender. On the other hand, WTF!!! Imagine if Sandra Bullouck said in her GG speech, thanks Carey Mullican for your great knockers (yeah, she wasn't nude or big but whatevs ;-) they're so nice you could ice a cake with them, or play softball or something...It such a patronising and weirdling thing in the biggest public forum Michael had at that award time. Jealous much Cloonster or just badly repressing your desire?!:graucho:

Boohoo, haven't seen any but Moneyball and Descendants, dragged along by friends. Will check out some of these by Sunday, but am flying on Oscar night so will miss the telecast - its just good for the outfits, more than the movie selection. Hard to choose a fav out of this lacklustre group:whistle:...will list again when I checked out more.
