Zoe and Michael weren't papped so much because before XMFC he was nobody and she wasn't interesting enough for paps to follow her around. Penn is more famous because of Gossip Girl and being ex-BF of Blake Lively, tabloid staple in the last 6 months. I don't think Zoe and Michael were too much concerned with age difference and how others might react to it. If they were, Michael could have been the one though I doubt it.

Plus when he was here filming Shame he was working crazy hours. And she lived in Williamsburg then (may still) and if he was happy hanging out in Williamsburg (and he probably was, he does live in Hackney after all) then the paps would never see them. All the stuff of her and Penn that is running is Soho, LES, E Village etc.

His screening in hackney must be starting soon/have started

Still, she was pap'd a lot with Ben Foster and Ezra Miller (and neither of them is an A-List/B-List or remotely interesting) I think it came from Michael he obviously didn't wanted to be known as 'that perv creep/Pedobear who's into barely legal girls'.

Take the Miami pics of them for example. Why would a photographer happen to be at that beach, for these two, at the moment where they were half-naked and get a long roll of clear hi-res shots? In general, I think most people who gets papped at a beach, stage it and pretend it's candid. There's no way someone wants to scour beaches and mountains to wait for a reality tv star to pop around, and then gets the perfect visual. Sure, there's constant money to be made if you stalk an über A-listers but people on the C-list, D-list, reality TV stars... no way.

I agree, the perfect timing is very odd and suspicious.

Right? Which is why, when I saw those pictures, I knew they didn't mind tipping off photographers if/when it was convenient. I don't think they're media leeches like Bosworth, Lohan, Stodden (I have no words for that one!) ... but without that constant exposure in the media, they wouldn't be a 1/4 as currently relevant as they are. Tabloid game 101. And the perception of relevance is key to putting that foot in the door for auditions, unless you have clear undeniable talent...

But in London at the same time, it's inundated with famous actors, artists, like NY, Paris. The press is rabid with the surefire hits that are constant money-earners for them, whether it is the late Winehouse, Adele, Pippa and her sister, the orangey Jodie Marsh/Katie Price, etc (Artica and all other londoners of the thread probably know more than me about this). Zoe is a nobody in London. Fassbender doesn't call the paps. I'm not surprised they were ever 'surprised' together and I don't think it has to do much with purposeful hiding. It's just a better place to be anonymous and blend in...especially if you're in East London. I think her pap-call toned down for that year (probably too busy with that hectic shoot & being sweetshopped/playing hipster guitar together ).

Not really, he introduced the Brit Vogue reporter to her.

They just didn't go to that many non-work related functions together, so what? And he didn't go to film festivals and awards ceremonies during the period they were together. Not walking the red carpet together for Jane Eyre does not equal hiding.

^^Absolutely, and as well, Fassbender's been mega busy shooting films back to back for that whole duration. That doesn't leave much time for doodling in the street and attending events, if any.

I disagree, he was well known in London at that time after 'Hunger', 'Fish Tank' and 'Inglourious Basterds' hits, he was being followed around by paps and interviewed a lot in local pubs. For exemple, there was an interview about him in the February issue of Vogue UK the interview took place in October and the British interviewer mentioned that the girl he was dating was Zöe she recognized her right on the spot so she clearly knew who she was, she's Lenny's daughter after all, I wonder if the blonde one was Jennifer Lawrence though...
He didn't introduced her as his girlfriend, she guessed (maybe it was supposed to be off-record, too many private details IMO)

Just as I am about to forget myself completely, I hear a couple of female voices alongside us. Two girls appear: one is blonde and is transporting a dog somewhere the other side of the park; the other is small, sullen and bears an uncanny ressemblance to Zöe Kravitz. He greets them with the same warmth he did me, and the dog, and the coffee-shop barista. The blonde peels off and I am introduced to the other; she has sloe eyes, smooth skin, an American accents and is working on X-Men. She is Zöe Kravitz. I size her up. I've got about nine inches, and 15 years on her. We fall into step across the park. I'm pretty certain I see Fasssbender take her hand, and there is a sweet furtiveness to their behavior, but there is no mention of her being his girlfriend. When we walk into his flat, a one-bedroom pad in an anonymous apartment block adjacent to the park, she apologises for the mess. As well she might. The place is pig-sty. Dirty clothes are strewn all over the floor; the dregs of last night's drink still sit in glasses on the table; skeins of tobacco are collecting on the table and two electric guitars sit ominously near the front door.

Somebody, get to the bottom of the mystery lady in L.A. (if, indeed, there was one). I don't know if Maiko is only part Asian (sometimes she looks it) but she's originally from Australia. Leasi, on the other hand, is half Black/half Asian. One is clearly darker than the other. I would think it wouldn't be too hard to mix them up if he was seen making out with one of them, which, seriously Michael, if you were, it's time to move on. Get a new chick. Enough with the old drama.

Re Zoe:
It amazes me how much "hate" this girl gets online (not speaking about anywhere specifically). The girl is hot and obviously a lot of guys are in agreement. Clearly there's something about her that they find irresistible. Michael chose to tap it even after she was with another dude. And that dude chose to stay with her even after she was with her ex behind his back. Just sayin'.

Maiko's mom is Japanese and her dad Australian (her stepdad Sam Neill is from New Zealand) according to her interview that I've already posted.
If Zoe is that irresistible she wouldn't go from one boyfriend to the next as often as she's getting new haircuts. Just sayin'.
She's cute but honestly a bit boring and talentless IMO. I can understand the hate towards her, for now she's just daddy's little girl tryin' desperately to be hype but she hasn't prove anything yet to deserve her famous status.

Truth to be told, Venice 2011 propelled Michael to real stardom. XMFC wasn't such a huge hit, compared to other movie from the franchise and other comic book movies. Michael didn't do so much promos for it - talk shows and such in USA. Let's not forget that he was working whole time during this relationship. Shame shoot was intense and short with press for Jane Eyre in between. Then Prometheus in Europe and they most likely broke up around that time.

If you notice all pics of Zoe and her Bfs are from events where it is expected of guests to have their pics taken.

Now why Michael wasn't going with her, I'll say he didn't have enough free time. It's quite possible he kept this relay on DL for reason you state and was advised to do so during XMFC by studio execs.

And like so confusing wrote, he did introduce Zoe to Vogue writer and behaved like they've got nothing to hide in front of her. He mentioned his GF, not by name though, in some other interviews around the same time.

Besides I don't think Zoe looks like a teen. I honestly thought she was 23 or 24 y/o.

Yes she was obviously his GF I never denied this part but like I said it was probably supposed to be off-record. Don't understand why he would share such things/private details with everyone like that.

I've not been a fan long enough but I honestly don't remember seeing any candids of Michael from UK, let alone London. I'm not talking about events with official photogs like Silverstone race where he had his pic taken with Gemma Arterton.

There was some but since he's been making films back to back for the last 2 years and promoting around the world it's been hard for paps to keep up with his whereabouts I suppose.
