Interview Alert!

Ok, so apparently Fassy will be on the Charlie Rose Show on PBS tonight (perhaps at midnight, depending on where in the country you live so it could be Wednesday at 12 a.m.).

:yahoo:

You'll have to check your individual PBS websites.

Now I can't quite understand why Carey Mulligan wasn't nominated for Shame but for Drive instead. She had absolutely F-all to do in Drive. It makes no sense.

I also would have loved to have seen a nomination for Steve McQueen, but even Spielberg didn't make the shortlist so can't complain about that too much.

TTSS received 11 nominations in total. I think Tom Hardy deserved a nomination instead of Jonah Hill in the best supporting actor category, but it wasn't meant to be.

I'm seriously can't wait for this year's ceremony. I'll hope to bump into Fassy again.

ITA Carey Mulligan's character in 'Drive' was useless, she was much better in 'Shame'.
At least Leo didn't get nominated this time and Clooney/or Brad have zero chance of winning over there
But why Olivia Colman and 'Tyrannosaur' didn't get a nod in Best Actress category and the movie in Best Film category [instead]? :confused1:
It's the best British film I've seen this year (with 'Shame' and 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy') :shucks:
And 'Potiche' by François Ozon was probably the worst film of the year, seriously?

You live in London Artica?

Go Gary! Hope BAFTA revives the Oscar chances for the man. Artica, hope you bump into him then, but you can also bump into him at the London Critics' Circle, which is soon :D

And one thing I've noticed is that the Brits went bat**** insane for Drive. They really, really loved it (the critics anyway). So I'm not surprised that Carey managed a nomination for that one, even if she only did promotion and campaigning for Shame in her off-Gatsby time. The other obstacle being that BAFTA considered Carey a lead actress for her part in Shame, and this year the competition is ferocious (but Bérénice Bejo = lazy nomination imo).

And big thumb-ups for Fassbender, of course.

Yes I do. I moved here years ago.

Thank God that Leo didn't get a nod, shame about Rosling tho! I have to say that Streep was right about having lots of choice this year. I would have loved to have seen Colman get a nod, but I also liked the other 5 performances. The Mulligan thing makes NO sense at all! Even Carey said that that the drive job wasn't that difficult or challenging for her.

I didn't see Potiche. I can't stand Depardieu.

I went to a masterclass of Betrand Blier last year and he kept on taking the micky out of Depardieu. It was hilarious. ;)

I never even thought about that! I always considered her performance as supporting. I'm still glad she was nominated even if she doesn't stand a chance in hell of winning. Same goes for Bejo. I loved her in The Artist, such a charming little film.

Yeah, I think the Critic's Circle is on Thursday and the Screening of Shame + Q&A in Hackney is on Friday, but I don't fancy waiting outside for hours in the cold. At the ADM BFI premiere, Fassy spent more time with the Ebay-ers than with his fans. Bit of a turn-off. At least at BAFTA, it'll be inside (if he wins).

It's a real shame that he's up against Gary Oldman. I wouldn't be surprised if the latter wins. :-/
