I like both [old school] rap music AND operas, what's wrong with that? :coolio:
People have a lot of BS stereotypes about rap music (People who listen to rap are dumb or gang members, black people only, like drugs, violence and hoes...) I'm not any of those things and yet I happen to enjoy some rap music from time to time as well as rock music or even some good old Ludwig Van :smile1:

You should listen to some 2pac, Notorious B.I.G., Public Enemy, Nas, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre songs [before judging] it's not as bad as you think

I have already listened to songs of the rappers you´ve listed , but I still don´t like rap.

But of course others can like it. Michael too.

But I´ve written "I hope he likes opera too. Not that he´d only listen to operas and nothing else.

He can still like rap and any other kind of music.

And I do not have "BS stereotypes about rap music" , I just don´t like to listen to rap.
:graucho:

Your loss :p
People who don't like rap it's often mainly because they believe in these ridiculous stereotypes, why don't you like it then? Too edgy for you?

Oh God. He better not morph into some pertinacious prick who thinks he's above it all like Franco. Old school rap is actually good, in my opinion ( leagues better than the new stuff) so it's nice to hear that he has an eclectic taste.

I think we'll know if it's headed that way if we hear of the Fass one day posing bum naked for Flaunt magazine under the pretense of artistic merit or whatever else it was that Franco wrote about in the mag (the interview was hilariously unbelievable if you take a read):laugh:
--

As for his musical choices, it made me chuckle because while they're reassuringly old school, it's also the kind of playlist you'd find in a Trainspotting-like pub at 2 am on a Tuesday ;) Or, the mood music that your first date would put on as you guys share a glass of Pinot in his living room :smooch:, and you're torn between finding it endearing or slightly embarrassing. All that's missing is Sade!

You know, that's why I like this guy. Imperfect but totally assumes it and it's really attractive. A woman's perfection is another's idea of hell anyway!

James Franco (aka another James Dean wannabe) ---> 'look at that f#cking hipster !'
I heard he got his teacher expelled from college because he didn't gave him an A.
Franco's professor claims he was fired for giving him a 'D' :nogood:

" Jose Angel Santana, Franco's professor in his "Directing the Actor II" class, gave the thespian the low grade for skipping 12 of his 14 classes. Santana was later fired by the university. Franco was at NYU pursing his master's in fine arts.
"The school has bent over backwards to create a Franco-friendly environment, that's for sure," Santana tells the New York Post. "The university has done everything in its power to curry favor with James Franco."
Santana adds other professors in the department attempted to get in good with Franco by giving him good grades. "

I myself only started getting the opera mood recently. So many to discover! I heard this haunting female solo on the radio a couple of months ago and still haven't found which opera it corresponds to, which is annoying me so much! Of course, not knowing the singer's identity nor the song title but only being able to hum a couple of the bars doesn't help with Shazam/Youtube searches.

Any opera suggestions, Blueberry/Ejm? (edit: oups just saw you list a couple Blueberry. LOVE WAGNER. Tristan et Iseult - so good).

ITA! After listening to the BBC interview I went straight over to youtube to listen to some Tupac, A Tribe Called Quest, Naughty by Nature and yes even Kris Kross. Coincidently there was a Nirvana documentary and concert on BBC4 last night. The older I get the more I appreciate 90s music.

Mozart, opera, carrots? Surely you don't want him to morph into James Franco :graucho: :graucho: :graucho:

Funny you're talking about opera, I'm watching Gounod's Faust on the telly as I type.

:woot::woohoo::laugh: I know a woman who's in her 40s and she's obsessed with James Franco. Every day she posts pics of him on her Face book wall. It's hilarious...for all the wrong reasons.

I hope he likes opera too.

Otherwise you can have him.

Smoking , drinking and rap?

:blah: ;) :graucho:

He´d listen to Mozart instead.

And eat carrots. :)

Thanks for posting this link. Never seen this before. I like opera, but I've never ever been to see one because of the insane prices. BAFTAS will be held at the Royal Opera House again. Perhaps they can offer Fassy some free tix if he wins a BAFTA.

BTW, how can you not like rap BB? Listen to Old School. It's the best.

As a college student this really annoyed me. In the real world you would be flunked if you pulled that.

Same here: the prices even in Montreal are insane (went once only). I'm dying to go to the NY Met because if you'll splurge, you might as well splurge at the Met. And I saw an opera piece (if one could call that), in Prague's State Opera for the grand old price of 6 euros. It was surreal! And total nonsense.

Bah, I don't love rap either. I don't mind it though, it's just a personal preference. I used to pretend to listen to it in high school because everyone else did (haha: I remember that if anyone asked, I'd answer Bones Thugs n Harmony) but in reality I couldn't differentiate Master P from Funkmaster Flex.

I just love opera. I go to the Royal Opera in Stockholm at least twice a month.

Fantastic:

I bet Fassy can afford opera tickets if he wants. :graucho:

I just don´t. It´s matter of taste. :smile1:

I see some of you are still up! So after dinner and drinks tonight my friends and I decided to head over to the Intercontinental Hotel (where the event took place) to see if maybe we could get in and catch a glimpse of Michael.

It was seriously the most low key event ever. We got there kind of late but walked right into the lobby which was filled with hotel guests and event attendees taking a break and hanging out.

We took a seat at at table in the bar area where we could see everything. I wanted to be able to see the lobby doors where people from the event would walk out of for a smoke, just in case he'd get the urge.

I had read on Twitter that Michael had just given his speech and was on his way out. Literally right after I read that, I look up from my phone and he's speeding (and I mean SPEEDING - the man is FAST) out the lobby doors to get into his chauffeured car. So I jump out of my chair, race across the lobby, dodging guests and probably looking like I stole something, then calmly walked out the doors and THERE HE FREAKING WAS!!!

Aaaaand... I turned to stone. He'd stopped to take some pics with a couple of people and sign some autographs but was visibly in a hurry. Aaaand... I just stood there. Like a statue. Lol. From the moment I saw him until he got into his car, maybe 15 seconds went by. That's how quickly it went.

Some things I noted:
He looked better in person (to me, anyway) than he looked in those red carpet photos from tonight. He is SUPER skinny in person. I was actually taken aback by it. But he still looked so good. He's definitely tall enough (you know we all have our idea of what "tall enough" is). I'm 5 feet 3 inches, so for me, he was the perfect height. He was definitely itching to get the hell out of there! Finally, I'm not sure if I mentioned it before but he is crazy skinny. :p

I didn't want to further detain him so I didn't call out his name or run up to him to ask for a photo/autograph. I have a thing about "bothering" people and I didn't want to be that girl. Besides, it was more than enough to finally see him in person. Ugh, the man is so beautiful...in all his skinny glory:laugh:

I still have one more opportunity to meet him at the Golden Globes, I guess. But I'm pretty satisfied with having seen him tonight! :smile1:

Thanks for sharing Gemini! Hope you can get into some of the GG parties. Please report back with some nitty gritty. No more statue impersonations for you though. Just go over and get some Fassy action.

Oh and yes, Michael is very lanky but still very muscled. You should see him in skinny jeans. :woot:
