Hello my Dr. Doolittle Friends,
Chloe, the pygmy goat in my Birkin from over a year ago (remember the post?) became a mom too young and bred with a large goat—both no-no’s and resulted in an exhausting pregnancy that created a whirlwind for months. At one point, after several x-rays and ultra-sounds, I was very close to the heartbreaking decision to put her to sleep as she would never be able to deliver the two large babies and an emergency C-section was highly risky as a goat cannot be safely anesthetized. Long story a bit shorter, my angel veterinarian assisted in a precarious delivery at her own home, internally positioning and repositioning the babies several times so that they could be delivered, and everyone LIVED: Mama Chloe (thank God) Rico, a boy, Dancer, a girl, AND a miracle girl who escaped all forms of detection. She was so tiny none of the doctors or technicians saw her in any of the tests—they believe she must have been tucked up in a rib cage.
Sadly, Chloe sensed the runt would die and refused to feed her as nature would have her do; she needs to keep the other two babies alive with her limited milk. So, of course, I have been bottle feeding the 11 ounce baby, only 1/3 the size of the others, every 3-4 hours around the clock. In eleven days, the baby has doubled her weight and has “made it.”
Please meet Esmeralda Magdalena Raisin Mini Peanut in her Rocabar twilly.

I'm so happy that mommy and babies are all doing well. What an incredibly selfless thing you did to help little Esmeralda survive and grow into the cute kid she is. She is beautiful in that twilly. :-)

Hello my Hermes/Animal loving PFers:

A rescue friend asked if I would bottle feed an abandoned two day old kitten and you all know my answer. Well, here she is at three weeks, climbing a mountain of H ribbon as I cleaned out some closet space. At this age, all she should do is sleep and eat, but I keep her with me and she stays awake for an hour or so and then, bam, collapses. Of course, she is now a member of the family. Her name is Skunk. And do you remember Magdalena aka Peanut, the miracle goat I saved and am still bottle feeding??? She is soooo jealous and hates the little furball ! I was feeding Skunk outside and Magdalena kept head butting the little fluff until I of course, interceded! A goat jealous of a kitten. Pretty funny. I had to share a few pics. My favorite is the one of the nipples on the kitchen counter! My DH shakes his head. Thanks for letting me share.

Oh my gosh. This is absolutely precious. The more I read about your animal endeavors the more I like you!! You seem to have such a soft spot for the little fur balls (so do I) and it's just the most caring thing. Thank you for being an animal lover and rescuer!! :-)

What a totally precious tiny furry baby! And, how lucky she is to have you taking such great care of her. As a committed animal lover who has rescued a number over the years, may I commend you for all that you do for these wonderful animals.....little or large.

Seeing the photos you posted truly made my heart leap with joy. Much gratitude for sharing the photos with us and for your kindness for the lovely animals.

Your household sounds wonderful and exactly the sort of place I'd love to visit. Love your little kitten and how the goat and kitten interact. And you have Eeyores! My DS loves donkeys and Eeyores most of all and would be so happy to see that picture. In fact, I think we have exactly the same Eeyore as the grey one there. I don't have a goat (sadly) but my cat was hand reared as well, and had to be kept warm box on a hot water bottle under a towel in a plastic Lego box.

So cute. I'm a sucker for a kitten- but they're hard work, so well done you for giving the little one a chance.

lisab - what an adorable kitty that now has a good life thanks to you! Animals truly enrich us, and you clearly love and are willing to help them. Thanks for sharing these heartwarming stories. And yes, those nipples are quite the picture too. Your goat clearly has mommy jealousy issues :)

As well he should be! What a stunning dog and Hermes bag. They compliment each other so well I don't know how he's going to give it up, lol. Congratulations on your first Hermes bag. Bet it won't be your last!

Thank you so much merrydish! Yes, I will have to get it back from Dave as he would fill it full of steak, chicken, dog treats, and the odd stick or leaf. And I'm so hoping you are right, I'm already dreaming of a blue orage birkin 35 with phw.
I love your babies in your avatar - they look like fast friends, at least for the photo!
