@melikesLV Congrats! Small correction though, this is not a PDV GM its a PDB GM. I have the same version in PM Ardoise as well. I love the bag and love the leather even more now after using it for 6 months. It becomes softer. Just like you, I bought it as well for a new job that I started as well. Pretty understated yet luxurious. Believe it or not, mine fits a 13'' laptop and a small umbrella for the rainy days in London!

@Dee1jay I as well use the handles more Vs. the straps. Feels better in hands and more professional.

Picture of mine with a little mono that I wanted to add to it.

Ah, you're right I meant PDB. The "V" and "B" are right next to each other and it didn't help that I was drooling as a bunch of PDVs on this forum as well. ;)

How does Taiga leather hold up in the rain? I'm a little hesitant to use it in the rain, particularly if its really misty or raining sideways in the wind.

It does fine in the rain. It's heavily coated so all you have to do is to wipe it dry if it gets wet.

Hey BZ,

The first thing I've observed is the slight tilt in the bag when placed on a flat surface which is caused by the external pocket. The external pocket is just an extra piece of canvas attached to the side of the bag and therefore adds bulk at the bottom edge where two pieces (instead of just one piece on the opposite side) are stitched together and meet the base of the bag. The bag hasn't been designed to compensate for this and leans slightly away from the pocket side as a result.

First world problem, I know, however something you would expect to be thought through properly in a bag of this price.

I suspect the external pocket (and its integrated leather strap used to loop onto rolling luggage) was a relatively recent addition to the bag and that the original design had no external pocket, much like the regular PDV today, with the pair of leather strips running down both sides. In fact, the leather strips still run down both sides of the GM but are covered on one side by the pocket which only adds to the impression that the pocket is something of an afterthought.

But like I said, first world prob

The second issue is the fixing method of the two D-rings on the short sides of the bag, just below where the zipper ends. These are where the shoulder strap are attached. The 'T' shape piece of leather which holds the D ring in place is prone to tearing over time if the bag is carried cross body style as the straps pulls to one side and puts great stress on the internal corners of these leather pieces. I find I don't use the shoulder strap much anyway and this is partially because I'm aware of this weakness.

Despite the above, I really love the bag, it's form factor, capacity, internal organisation, canvas finish (great in bad weather) and the DG print. Glad in a way to hear that it's to be discontinued - makes it even more special!

Thanks for reading this essay and enjoy your bag!! [emoji3]

Exactly my thoughts. The back pocket is really my number one complaint about the PDV GM. I just wish it was not there. And the leather strap, which allows to hook the bag to a rolling suitcase, looks sloppy on my bag even though I have never used it. I had watched a Youtube video, before purchasing the bag, about the leather tabs holding the D rings possibly tearing when using the shoulder strap. But it was always my intention to carry the bag by hand, so this was not a deal breaker for me. But overall, I really like my PDV GM.

I had a Robusto briefcase in Taiga leather and rain never was an issue.

It hold up pretty well. However I have conditioned it with this product to ensure the leather is 100% protected. It is gentle on the leather and not harsh. look at the reviews. Very safe to use.

Update: took my bag to a different store and they sent pics for quality assessment and they informed tarnishing is normal.... Which is upsetting because my hardware is not tarnishing, it's indented and wearing off. But they agreed to replace both rings so at least it's something.

However, I was just in Mexico City and a SA there told me he would've let me return the bag and replace it with the PDJ on the spot. Just had to pay the difference. Mexico City had a lot better service than in the states! image.jpg
