Men carrying a purse or handbag

I almost forced my husband to buy a man's bag because I was fed up to carry his keys and wallet in mine. Needless to say, he was very much against the idea, but I chose with him a very manly, no-frills bag and now he is happy and find it very useful. Also, under no circumstances he can be mistaken for a gay guy, and even if he was he's quite big enough to take care of the situation (over 6' tall and broad-shouldered)

I slept with this guy once. He was 6'5", broad-shouldered and had a girlfriend. He didn't carry a bag with him, and it's not obvious by the way he spoke or acted that he liked boys, too. :p

(By the way, if it's not obvious by my username, I am a guy.)

Here's my imPROPER man with a couple of his bags. He's a manly-man even with his bags, earrings and boyzilian, I wouldn't want him any other way.

OH MY LORD I"M TOTALLY BUYING SOMETHING FROM THERE!!!!!

i LOVE their tagline "they'll fight over it when you're dead"

PS. if i could get my husband to carry his OWN bag then *I* won't get stuck with his wallet and car keys in MY bag!!!

plus it would mean MORE bag shopping . YAY!

:)

See! That's how I see it! My husband absolutely LOVES his bag now. If you ever talk to Dave, his wife or any family member- they will tell you that they get lots of requests from both men and women. After I got my husband his bag, I ended up getting myself one too. DH got the large briefcase in Tobacco and I got the medium briefcase in Chestnut. I use it mainly for business and travel but I could definitely see getting a small sized one and using it as a purse. They are definitely the best quality I've seen! Perhaps you should just buy one for your husband as a gift and maybe he will be convinced. ;) I think if I had waited until my husband said okay to buy one, we would have never gotten around to it. Now that he has it- he's not complaining.

My BF doesn't carry a man bag, but he sometimes dumps all of his stuff into mine...

I once played 9-ball against a guy with a man bag in the shape of an American football. He said his wife called it a "murse" :p

Most guys in the UK carry a bag of some sort. I'm glad people here don't have the kind of hangups that some people in the USA have. Theres nothing even remotely feminine about carrying a bag, jeez, its not like makeup or a skirt, it's a pouch to hold your stuff.

Is it really that American men have a hangup with appearing feminine? I guess I'm not qualified to answer that, because my bf is British... he never wears a "man-purse" but he never has to - he either fits his stuff into his jeans pockets or his jacket pocket. (he also has the luxury of being able to wear jeans to work) I asked him whether he would be willing to wear a purse if he had to, say, wear fitted dress pants. He said he would probably bring a laptop bag.

He doesn't appreciate the aesthetic quality of purses at all (which is funny, because he's an artist), he views purses as being a "crutch" in a way, an infringement on freedom of movement, and he rejects fashion (he finds it extravagant, a waste of money, pointless - when he needs to go shopping, he insists on going to Ross, pulling out clothes here and there in his size and then taking them home w/o trying them on). So, he probably wouldn't buy/wear something called a purse (or man-purse) because it would be linked to "fashion" in his mind. Unless it was $20 at Ross. :p

I'm sure there are American men who feel the same as him.

It's annoying as hell though.

Agreed! I think it's kinda rare to see guys without a bag!

Cool. But if my BF gets a man bag, he's out of the door! Any man who does that will be going out an getting a Boyzillian next!!

I think you have a very narrow minded view that if a guy carries a "man bag", he'll either be high maintenance, gay or self conscious regarding his looks, or a combination of the three. I also think that it'd be really shallow to end a relationship because your significant other bought a bag, but hey that's just me! Maybe you can enlighten me on your view. I'm shocked that you live in London especially with just about 8/10 guys walking past you everyday will be carrying a bag..? :confused1:

:roflmfao::roflmfao::roflmfao:

I love your comments! Actually, you could've ended it with that first sentence. :supacool:

Nope, he would rather stuff his pockets and then when they are full give me whats left to put in my purse...I guess that is how I can justify some of my purse buys. "It's for US!!"

I had my DH look at a couple of these posts to get his opinion. He uses a Land's End canvas briefcase in Black for work . His mini messenger bag in nylon is for weekends. He used to be the "No self respecting man would ever have a man bag" type but since he has gotten older he needs more stuff than I do. So he has evolved to "Yeah I'm carrying one got a problem with that?" He looks extremely cute when my Seven year old asks him to hold her purse in purple with flowers and he does !!!!!
