Max Mara Teddy COAT - IS IT STILL A THING?

I love the look but unsure if I can pull it off without making an almost $4000 investment.

As a result, I got the 100% wool Yves Salomon teddy which I hope looks good! I debated between it and brands like Aritizia (20ish % wool), but I’m hoping Yves, with its fur and coat expertise, will create a kick ass one!

Side note, Yves coats come in XXS in Teddys for all you petite ladies. I got a XS because I was worried XXS would have very short sleeves.

Would love to hear your thoughts when you get it. Looks like a great alternative!

IT IS AMAZING! I ordered a FR34 and have FR32 coming so I can compare and return one. I love that it looks oversized without looking ridiculously big. I wear S in tops and mostly 1 in Moncler.

If there wasn’t a 32, I would’ve been content with the 34. But now I can really compare.

I would personally recommend getting Brunello Cucinelli's interpretation of the teddy coat because the cut is absolutely superb. Max Mara's 1x2 front button stance looks very dated and the excessively side lapels is not a flattering design. In my opinion, it is not so much whether something's in or out, but the garment should look elegant and cut well to the body so it flatters you - that should be the most important factor, along with the quality of the material used.

I adore the brunello cuchinelli version (love brunello design and quality)! But sadly, (I’m short, asian and medium build), I somehow looked like a burly animal in the coat (DH who adores brunello and loves to shop burst out laughing, and my SA didn’t like it on me either. . . Would love to see an action pic of someone who can rock it successfully!

Cucinelli has a few versions, shearling, castorino/beaver (very hard to find), and alpaca & wool. Do you recall which version you tried? I have an alpaca & wool, but it's not oversized (however most alpaca & wool coats from BC are oversized) and not really in the style of a cocoon coat, so my pics won't be too relevant unfortunately in this case :(

I just purchased a camel teddy and there are loose threads on the lining, a smudge on the tag and a few small balls of fluff also came off.

Has anyone had any issues with their coats so far? I’m debating if I should keep it or not.

Where did you ordered it from...I ordered mine from Nordstrom the first one that came to me the button was loose with no tags on it....it seems they sent me a return one...I reordered it again and the next one was fine.

I purchased mine from Ssense. My friend also purchased one from Ssense and the button is very loose on her jacket as well.
