I know it's a bit confusing but this is indeed about Koons' original artwork.
Yes - his original artwork that is a dialogue/ his relationship with artists of the past. All very subjective I understand. Koon's work here (to me) seems like parody or cannibalized artwork which isn't my cup of tea and doesn't jive (for me) on what I perceive LV to be (classic and timeless). I am an art purist and not drawn to this in particular but thankful the world isn't full of all of the same. Some may think my lens is boring and bland. It's all a beautiful thing.

I don't understand how people call this "Koon's art." This is literally screen prints of famous artists' work on classic bags. He did not even try to come up with original pieces. He just picked out the bag colors and slapped on the artist name in huge, bulky metal. So, if you don't know the paintings you at least get which artist whom created it. It makes the LV monogram look like an afterthought design, placed in the corners, that ruins the whole classic, renaissance feel. I'm soo bummed!! I was expecting to be wowed. I am wowed that Koon actually picked the Palm Springs back pack along with the classics

It's inspired by Koon's gazing ball series. All the metal elements are highly polished to reflect the face of the person looking at the bag. That's why they take center stage in the image, just like the gazing ball took center stage in his own creations.

You are right. These aren't original Koon work.

It's still crap though! :p Just thought there would of been more... thought gone into this. It's not his artwork really though is it? We could come up with better!

I ordered Da Vinci Speedy, the store manager said I'm the first one, who did. Am I too crazy?
I happened to be just perusing the website this morning when I saw the collection. Fell in love right away..I think I even heard the angels sing on this one.:hbeat: I could not have dialed my SA's # fast enough to get me on the list and order me one..so you are not the only one who seems to be in the minority.
I'm very picky with what I like and fall in love with..this one just got me instantly. I really love the Mona Lisa. Which color did you go for?

I m not sure I understand your comment... Do you know anything about Koons? Because this is a concept directly borrowed from his artwork... what exactly did you want? I don't get it.

PS: I understand comments such as "I don't find this attractive" of course.

Are the patterns all silk printed??? Aka will form white spots with use? If that's the case I can't imagine I would use them myself. I would be too concerned about destroying the beautiful artwork!

For me it is a masters painting which he obviously didn't paint, he then puts a gazing ball in it. Then LV decide with Koons to take that and put on their bags. Those peices of art and what he has done with them isn't terribly original and appealing for me. I prefer something more orignal. I would of much prefered the ballon animals or Popeye.Thought they would look better. Quite like the rabbit though. Now if you had Tamara De Lempicka on a bag....

The editors were given an advance look at the collection before the Fall show took place around March 7th. Until now production have likely to reduced the styles offer to 40. The article was written in advance and was just waiting until Monday to publish.
I thought I read somewhere that there may be a second release also (an article).

When I see the bags especially with the rabbit keyring and how the rabbit looks overall in the context of the masterpieces. I can't help but laugh and think of all the parodies of master pieces on the Internet. The Simpson family in the Last Super. Mona Lisa holding a cat . I think without the rabbit key ring it would be less comical.
