Thanks Darlin'!
I had a BLUE Christmas - LOL - BJ 28 Kelly/Ruth and Thalassa Box 35. No strange atelier marks on either, BUT....the little BJ Kelly was made by the SAME craftsperson that made my beige Kelly! I'm kinda excited by that, for no good reason! LMAO!

GF--Congrats. May we please see more photos of your Christmas acquisitions?

OK...problem solved. It seems it's just an atelier (workshop) mark. According to an SA I spoke to last night.
Sweetea, I was the same, all excited I had TWO...only to find out all it meant was that the bags had been made in the same location - LOL! your kelly is DIVINE, no matter what! I LOVE that bag, can't believe your selling such a rare beauty!!!!!!!!

GF you are such a sweetheart my dear. It is killing me too BUT..I am getting older and I hope I am getting wiser..:rolleyes:So I am going to be more selective in chosing the bag I really want..or need!:sweatdrop: Is it just me or anyone else experience this. After getting all the H bags I really wants, rare beauties, hard to get birkin, hard to get color, etc, I didn't really using these beauties to the fullest. Most of the time they are sleeping in their sleepers, hardy being carried, just pulled out the boxs to look, kiss, smell, admire, and smile???

So now I have been dreaming of an "ULTIMATE" H bag, which I scare to say and I couldn't believe I am going to say this..something exotic and mate! There you go I jsut said this..I don't know if I can afford this but geeeesh can a girl have a dream lol?:p:shame:

So... here's my question. What does this mean for eBay sellers who have sold bags claiming they are from master craftsmen? Is this misrepresentation? I have seen a few bags on eBay with this designation and they were all priced higher for that reason... if I bought one of those bags I would not be very happy right now.

I have the same question actually.

But thinking further, I am not sure of the 'priced higher' and whether it was for that particular reason - as individual sellers do have different price points. I think it would be misrepresentation if the seller stated outright that the bag was of higher quality because it was made by a master craftsman.

Humm.... I'm not sure it's a misrepresentation. Other please chime in if you think so.
I know that a craftsmen must be a master craftsmen to make a bag. I don't think it should change anyones opinion on the quality of their bag.

^ I agree flairforchic. And also they must be a 'master' at craftsmanship to make a birkin right? And haven't most of the bags with the celtic cross being sold lately for as master c. bags birkins?

I would think most honest resellers have been operating like people here - under the mistaken belief that the marking denotes something different. Short of fraudulent misrepresentation (which really is more about selling a FAKE bag or using photoshop to alter the pictures and mislead buyers), I think the material representations are those with respect to the condition of the bag, colour, leather, authenticity, repairs. I don't think *saying* a bag is of higher quality because of a stamp *makes* it so. Just as other types of seller statements (e.g. "HOTTEST COLOUR OF THE YEAR!!!" "THE MUST-HAVE BAG OF THE SEASON!!!" "IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IN THE STORE!!!") don't necessarily make it so.

A bag potentially crafted by a super-duper craftsman may have additional allure, but I doubt the allure is strong enough to inflate the price in any significant or demonstrable way. A crappy used bag with the celtic cross is still a crappy used bag.

I don't have but one of these and it's a smaller Kelly in clemence.

....when I was admiring it in the store I felt it was exceptionally well made even for Hermes. The quality of the beautiful soft clemence was, to me, fabulous. Then, and only then, I noticed the celtic cross.

I think it is a misrepresentation if a seller considers the Celtic cross as value added and charges more for it or represents that the bag with it is somehow better than one without. All else being equal, if a buyer is deciding between two Birkins she may buy the one with the Celtic Cross, thinking she is getting a better quality bag, based on the seller's hype about it.

Glad I found this thread now! I just got my new bag with the celtic cross stamp (black box Birkin, btw) and had it authenticated by the lovely ladies here. I definitely didn't buy it because of the stamp, would have gotten it anyway, but I would have hated to reference it any further as a master craftsman's bag. I love it just the same!
