Many inexpensive bags or one luxury bag?

I think invest in an LV bag, just beware it might start an addiction! I find with the more expensive designer bags you don't really get tired of them and will wear them for many years... that's just my opinion though. Anyway, if you do decide to splurge you will not regret it :) . .

Well, after over a year of trial and error (and money), I have realized that you must select the bags that you want because you really love them not b/c of impulse or trend. How many and which designer is really a personal choice based upon what you like/your personality/wardrobe, etc. Different factors weigh in differently for each person.

Some designers just don't work for me (MK, all but one old LV which I own, Minkoff, DB, YSL, Bal, Jimmy Choo,Celine, Givenchy, Goyard, Proenza, Chloe, Dior, Burberry, all Bottega except for my card case, all but one or two Chanel bags-though I own Chanel wallets/yen holder, all but one or two Marc Jacob bags, Fendi, Tods, Ferragamo, Valentino, MM, Hermes) even though I think that they are cute. They don't work because of style or too heavy.

I have 98% designer (non premier & premier) bags/wallets and 2 non designer python embossed lambskin clutch-wallets. I love them all. I change purses and wallets when the mood strikes- regardless of who made it.

I could never have just one or two bags. I love variety and picking out which bag to carry is part of the fun. I love my older bags but I still enjoy the thrill of getting a new bag. The bags that I have spent the most on, I feel like I need to carry to get my money's worth and then it becomes an obligation instead of a pleasure.

Of course, I feel this way with my clothes too. I don't buy really cheap clothes, but I don't buy really expensive either, because I would get bored switching between just a few outfits. I also like spending the money where it counts the most, so I don't mind spending for an exceptional piece but I won't buy something just because it has a designer name.

I feel a little different about my house or car, though. I figure I am only going to have one house to decorate so I buy the best furnishings.

I find that once you get a designer bag, you will continue to buy bags, but less of the inexpensive kind. I think the designer bag really sets the bar on how we gauge our future purchases with lower priced bags. I definitely have purchased less (quantity), but have become pickier (w better quality) with non designer bags every since I got my first designer bag 4 years ago.

I still prefer to carry my designer bags over my inexpensive ones whenever I head to the malls and events. The inexpensive ones I use is for very casual purposes, mainly for grocery shopping or the park. I don't think you will regret your designer purchase!

i agree with this. i still look for inexpensive bags, but only use them for a very casual place, like to the market or hawker. buy designer bags is everyone's dream. you won't regret that

So I love handbags! I have a small collection of COACH, MK, Juicy and I've wanted a an LV for awhile now, but i'm starting to wonder if i'll be happy with one bag? I think that if i get one I will feel the need to use it all the time to 'get my money' out of it or I would feel guilty not using it all the time.
Have any of you gone from using a bunch of bags and gone to using just one?
What are your opinions on making to move to luxury?

I have a varied selection of premier and contemporary designers. To be honest, I am in a Coach phase and I do feel guilty for not using my premier designers. Coach appeals to me right now b/c of the supple leathers and vibrant colours. My LV's are all canvas which will come back out in autumn. I need constant change or I get bored.

If you are like me who likes to switch bags daily, then keep a collection of contemporary designers and one premier, in this case LV, for when the mood strikes. If you are one who doesn't like to switch purses then definitely invest in an LV.

I've never gone from using a lot of bags to just one, but if I had to choose between many inexpensive bags and one luxury bag, I'd likely go with the one luxury bag given that it is like a 9 or 10 (on a scale of 1-10) in looks compared to just a 7 or so like many of my cheaper bags are. I'd rather go for quality over quantity. However, I do have a few inexpensive bags that are very highly attractive so... that's when it'd be a hard one.

I think it depends on the person. My friend, for example has tons of Coach bags and enjoys buying a lot of bags. I, on the other hand, started buying B-bags when I got into designer bags and I only have a few. She would have a heart attack sending that much on one bag. I don't like clutter and changing bags is a PITA to me. She uses a Coach bag for several months and then moves on. I switch it up between my fewer high end bags. My bags have higher resale, obviously. Neither method is better. It just works for each of us.

I am the opposite. I got the LV and hated it. Hated it so much I sold it. I really like Dooney, Kate Spade, Cole Haan and 2 house brands from Dillards better. I could never stick to 1 bag.

But it doesn't matter what anyone says. Everyone has different tastes. As long as you buy what makes *you* happy it doesn't matter if you carry 1 bag until you wear it out or rotate many bags. Buy what you love and enjoy it!

When I was in high school and got my first job I knew I wanted this LV cherry blossom bag. But my mom convinced me it was too expensive and I would work all summer on only have one bag.
So I ended up buying 3 coach bags. I still regret it. I ended up buying a different LV bag later since the cherry blossom bags sold out :(
And I sold all of my coach bags because I got bored of them.
I learned that instead of buying little impulse bags that will keep me happy for a month or so I should just save up and buy the bag I really want.
Maybe buy a pre-owned LV? And see how much you like it. That way you aren't making a huge investment until you know you love them.
And don't try to force yourself to love an LV bag. For that amount of money you should love the bag already. My mom did that with her first LV and now it sits in the closet because in the end she doesn't like it and wants to use her other bags.

I'll always go for quality over quantity but then again I agree with the others, once you start buying higher end bags it's really hard not to want more! The good thing is that there is a second hand market so when you really want a new designer bag you can still sell your older one!

Ya I'm happy about that, it kinda makes me sad that the re-sale on COACH bag is not so great :(

I have about 12 designer bags that I rotate carrying. I LOVE LV and have 3 of those. I also have a Marc Jacobs and a couple Coach. I find that once I got into the designer bags, the quality was so much better, so I took all of my inexpensive bags to the resale shop.

One luxury. Maybe even something really dressy like a clutch; it'd last a very long time then use Contemporary for everyday errands and such.
