I realise that if I don't faithfully condition my brandy bucket once a week, the scratches really seem to start adding up. Especially around the corners and near the drawstring. I don't even have long nails! I'm just glad this is one of my few bags which was never meant to be maintained in like-new condition. :D

Question regarding drying time for leather conditioner.

I purchased a cammello bucket in the spring, applied leather conditioner (BlackRock) and it had completely dried by the next morning and looked great. I just purchased a black lady bag, applied leather conditioner and the application was not as clean; it definitely looked more splotchy once applied and the conditioner was more noticeable on the surface. In addition, the conditioner has still not completely dried and the bag still has a sticky, greasy feel 18 hours later. I'm in NYC - could that be the result of more humid weather? Or does conditioner occasionally take a bit longer to dry and set in with some leathers. Thanks in advance for any input.

I wonder if it's because the black leather is not as "raw" or naked as the Camello is, and thus there's probably the coating of dye that blocks the absorption of the conditioner.

I used collonil lotion and my black lady bag looks much better. It's the first time I need to put an effort to make my leather bag looking less 'dry' and less scratchfree. And I already treated the bag 2 times within 1 week of use. It's my first MG bag, and I want a Bucket bag, but if the leather is the same, it's such a hassle. Are the Calf coated ones better to maintain than the vegetable Tan ones?

Thanks; in any event I hope that this doesn't impair the leather. So many others on this thread have used conditioner on their black flammas that I did not think it would be an issue.

I had the same thing happen with my black mini bucket - the weird "sheen" went away after a few days of use. I would recommend wiping it with a paper towel before using it though, since it seems like the conditioner "loosens" the black dye and I wouldn't want it to transfer onto my clothes.

Hi,

I got my first bucket bag in black flamma 2 weeks ago. I ordered chamberlain leather milk no 1, 2 and 3. It is said 3 is for water protection. When i aplied no 3, it left tiny white dot mark on the leather at some places. I waited until 1 hour and then rub gently no 1 on it. It worked ! The leather became much much better in appeareance. No 1 is actually the leather conditioner and a bit cleaner inside.

Here is I attached the pic after it was treated by no 1
