Hi,

I got my first bucket bag in black flamma 2 weeks ago. I ordered chamberlain leather milk no 1, 2 and 3. It is said 3 is for water protection. When i aplied no 3, it left tiny white dot mark on the leather at some places. I waited until 1 hour and then rub gently no 1 on it. It worked ! The leather became much much better in appeareance. No 1 is actually the leather conditioner and a bit cleaner inside.

Here is I attached the pic after it was treated by no 1

Hi,

I've read a lot of the posts on this thread and I purchased chamberlain's leather milk # 3 for my new cammello rosa tote. My plan was to treat with chameberlain's and then spray apple garde rain repellant to protect the leather from the awful new england weather.

I just used chamberlain's with the included sponge on the attached zip purse to test it out and I feel like it made the leather look much worse! It looked okay when I first rubbed on the treatment but now that I've let it dry and the leather looks much, much drier. It looks like it created and overemphasizes wrinkles throughout the entire purse and especially around the stitching.

Is there something I'm missing here? What can I do? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you!

Chamberlains no 3 is a water protectant so I don't think there is any need to use apple garde on top of that.

I treated my cammello tote with no 3 a couple of weeks ago and haven't noticed any wrinkling. I know some other people here have veg tan bags which were a little on the dry side when they first received them, maybe try treating it with some leather conditioner to smooth the wrinkles out? There are quite a few recs in this thread, chamberlain's no 1 has been mentioned a few times.

Ok thanks, I'm glad I won't have to spray it as well -

The rest of the bag is in good condition and it did not come with any wrinkles - the pouch looks parched with wrinkles only after I treated it with chamberlains so I'm worried about doing anything to it further. . .
I just don't know what it could be since all the reviews of chamberlains seem to be positive
Has anyone had a similar experience with chamberlain's #3 or this kind of problem generally??

I experienced the same thing after I applied no 3, it did left the white mark on the surface of the leather and made it even drier. Then I rubbed gently no 1 to the dry surface and it worked perfectly! The surface become much smoother and even shinier.

I will stick with no 1 further for leather conditioner and cleaner, I also try no 1 to my longchamp lp cuir that was accidentally sprayed by sun's cream. Amazingly the stain is gone.

I have the leather milk #3 water protectant but I find it harder to apply than the apple garde rain repellant and it also darkens the leather.
I like the apple garde for rain protection as it leaves no mark on the bag after application and it works on my brandy bucket! I ran into a few light showers with my bag, comparing to pretreated state (where old marks persisted), the new rain marks were 90% gone!

blackrock leather n rich works the best!

If you have a Cammello or Brandy bag - how often do you moisturise it? And is there a 'sweet spot' after which the leather doesn't need to be babied as much?

I posted before that if I skip a week, the fine scratches on my Brandy bucket start to get really obvious. I'm not very hard on my bags at all so it really baffles me that I get so many fine scratches each week!

So now I have a weekly routine of buffing the bag with Apple Garde. It's definitely doing something for the patina, but I'm just curious to know if I can ease up on the treatment regimen at some point. I swear I have spent more time on maintenance for this bag than I have with anything I own from much more premium brands! :D

I only condition my brandy after it gets rained on. I don't really worry about the scratches any more as they kind of wear into the bag over time. I noticed the scratches much more when it was new, but it's a colour that looks better and better the more it's worn.

I feel exactly the same way about my Brandy cross body.

Thank you for sharing! :flowers::flowers: I get really uncomfortable seeing the hairline scratches and I feel like buffing with leather conditioner helps them wear into the bag better? So it's good to know that it gets better over time!

I just want to say how awesome and sweet all of you are with the helpful suggestions.
Xoxoxo

I agree. This is such a helpful forum.

Hi,

Thank you for the suggestion!
I've heard that chamberlains #1 can be hard to apply/leave streaks if you are not very careful when applying - did you find it hard to use?

Question for all the MG care experts here, I have been babying my new rosa calf bucket but still can't avoid scuffing the delicate corners (see pic). What's the best way or product for treating this? Or for protecting the calf leather in general? TIA!
